@DE_Gifford Are these trains still owned by the state? I had heard Michigan bought a bunch of trains for A2-Detroit commuter rail but the RTA measure was needed to actually run them - CW
@Mik_filA@RochesterRiders@TransitGuideDET I'm sure it could be arranged. This Oakland County is technically a countywide transit measure not countywide SMART. Some of the funds go to local transit providers. If Wayne went all in, money raised in Detroit and neighboring suburbs could go DDOT.
Lowest-taxes-in-the-County-Livonia has one intersection that doesn’t have issues with retail/commercial vacancies and has had consistent investment over the last 5-10 years…. Can you guess what intersection?

While watching this @OakGov board meeting, northern OC members are speaking against funding transit that serves beyond their city whilst almost ALL of their roads are county roads, funded by the rest of us. If they can opt out of transit funding, we should stop funding those 🤷🏻
If you're not making public comment at the Oakland County Commission, you can join us at the Crofoot for @DetroitTransit 's Transit Town Hall! Featuring Pontiac City Council member Mikel Goodman
Mikal Goodman, Pontiac City Councilman and SMART rider, talks about how SMART helps people get to school and work. "Really being able to allow people... to be able to do more, to go to communities they are not welcomed into" will "create a great equalizer in Oakland County."
Kermit Williams of Pontiac, former city council member & Oakland Forward organizer. He expresses strong support for transit in Oakland County & the need for people to decide what it looks like.
Michael Kosuth, Rochester resident and teacher, talks about the affordability problems of having a car and no access to transit. He doesn't make much money, and transit expansion to Rochester will help him stay in the city he chose to live in.
@DetroitTransit@CountyTurn Andrew Sarpolis of @CountyTurn and Royal Oak homeowner chose his neighborhood for its access to transit. Transit helps workers get to jobs. Transit enables economic growth and respect for the environment at the same time.
