#GoodTroubleEd reminder as teachers and administrators are creating norms and expectations for the new year— it is not the goal to teach students how to simply get by in an unjust world. The work is to support them in the creation of a world without white supremacy. #hiphoped
Peace: give opportunity for your student’s to write their story.
Unity: give opportunity for them to tell their stories to *each other*
Love: give time for trust & quality time for them to tell their story to you.
Fun: give opportunity for multiple forms of expression #hiphoped
"I’ve learned to see my classroom as a platform for empowering students and transforming society, and to use my pedagogy as a form of protest against norms that silence students." @chrisemdin#GoodTroubleEdu#HipHopEd

Good Trouble is making sure that unlearning is every bit as important as learning is in our endeavor to find truth. We all have stuff up there that doesn’t belong. Challenging our own assumptions is imperative. #HipHopEd#GoodTroubleEDU
NYC is taking after Portland - a trans femme protestor was pulled into an unmarked van at the Abolition Park protest - this was at 2nd Ave and 25th Street
Putting it on your radar- if schools are in-person come the fall with social distancing/PPE guidelines, SOCs will be policed, punished, and arrested at disproportional rates. Keep it remote and/or inspire values- don't police policy. #abolitionistteaching
I’ve seen a lot of people block friends and family that do not support #BLM. It’s one thing for a BIPOC to protect themselves from violence. But here’s a reminder that as a white person, you don’t get to ignore racism and still call yourself anti-racist. That’s the work.
