Sanctions on Russia, bad weather, and export cuts have fueled a severe fertilizer shortage that has farmers scrambling to keep the world fed https://t.co/NP5HRyMbE2
TPACK is crucial for 21st Century teaching. However, we need to ensure that we are embedding the technology in a way that is authentic and potentially transformational. That is why I intend to use ICTs in my #EDUC4750 unit with a focus on the SAMR model. #UoNTeach
Love this different visual for looking at TPACK. TPACK is a great model to ensure Teachers are integrating ICT pedagogical activities authentically and not just using ICT an add on.
#UoNTeach and #EDUC4750#SDG14
@JoelDThompson1 Just using ICTs in lessons doesn't do TPACK justice. We need to look into how we use ICTs and the SAMR model can really help us with that. I rely on it a lot as ICT use is a particular weakness of mine.
@niamhformby @KHunter2001 Plastic leaching would be a potential issue if this is used when growing food. It's best to use natural materials or materials that have been treated to prevent leaching. Bees wax is a safe method to treat plastic to make it safe.

@Hollie_Segalla I love how it goes on to discuss how we also waste seeds. It would be rather easy for students to collect seeds from home to utilise in a school garden or start a community garden.
@Hollie_Segalla I'm struggling with this one myself. I plan to work with UNSA and Ozharvest to provide fresh vegetables to aged care facilities and the UNSA food pantry. But, I will need to look into the local causes of malnutrition and hunger in order to incorporate reform.
@MissMBeer I have never heard of Keynote, thank you for sharing. I was going to use Minecraft Education "Building a Garden Bed", but I may change my mind now.

Another great resource to plan a school vegetable garden. However, I am still looking for one that can help plan for a vertical garden. Any ideas my fellow #EDUC4750#UoNTeach students?
Thank you @MissMBeer for sharing. #SDG2@bill3303351@JaydenGodwin99@R607497 @miss_BCarter
@Miss_RTurner@katefergusonpat Completely agree. To make it more authentic, Ss could submit their designs to "Green" organisations or the local government. This would be a great legacy assignment.
"Of all the localisation steps communities can take, rebuilding the local food system is perhaps the most important. Food is something everyone, everywhere, needs, which means that even small shifts in our food systems can have far-reaching benefits". #SDG2#UoNTeach#EDUC4750
Check out this Localisation Action Guide created by Local Futures. It shares 146 actions you can take to contribute to systems change at the local level.

@MissRCoops@FellowsAbbey As Ts we always focus on ensuring our Ss can do better than the previous generations. But we should try and inspire the community to make a real change with the SDGs? Incorporating a whole community goal into our #EDUC4750 units can fix the problem now, meeting the 2030 deadline.
@HannahTiedeman Food insecurity was on the rise before COVID hit, and has only gotten worse. Wars and the embargoes that come with them also exacerbate the problem.
