@MissCheyaLee This is a great website to help people become more responsible consumers. How do you think you could implement some of the strategies used here in your school?
@MissWolfe00 Thanks for sharing Ella. I will definitely have a look on this website when creating my unit. Have you looked at the World's Largest Lesson? They also have some great classroom resources. Hope it helps! https://t.co/VhyY0CszBE
@aimsgillard Awesome resource there Aimee! I love that Minecraft promotes critical and creating thinking and students find it fun. They don't even realise the value of their learning!
The SAMR model is a powerful model for understanding effective technology integration in classrooms (Terada, 2020). This activity modifies and redefines learning about coral bleaching. It also has a great link to #SDG14.
#UoNteach#educ4750
@MicrosoftEDU Students recently worked on a coding project in Minecraft to restore and regrow coral in an attempt to save them from a bleaching crisis as part of our work on the Climate Action Project @PlayCraftLearn@zelfstudie#ClimateActionP
@CaitlinAllport What a great challenge. One way I can think of is taking 3 for the sea. Once you start looking for your 3 pieces you'll be surprised at how much extra you find and will feel compelled to pick that up too!
@SFinlay22 Advertisements and images like these are great at provoking thought and action. I love the link to visual literacy as good advertisements are full of elements to dissect. Where would you use this poster in your unit?
@FellowsAbbey@CodySimpson@UNDP It is so important to have role models for our students. The younger the better! Greta Tunberg is another role model for students to look up to. The way she and Cody speak is inspiring.
@aimsgillard What a great idea to recycle resources from the community. this project could link well with mathematics and calculating how many materials students would need to build the couch.
@aimsgillard Project based learning is a great opportunity for critical thinking skills. Another benefit is students get to build their personal and social capabilities within the community. These are both areas in the NSW general capabilities.
@Sam_cannon_ This is eye catching for sure! It can also relate to #SDG12 as it is made from recycled materials. I am thinking of doing a similar project for my unit.
@Jodie_Mowczko This is an awesome resource to engage primary students and encourage reading different text types. Have you taken a look at the UN climate action superheros? They have great online lessons an activities which you could link with the comics. https://t.co/tJMhQvIrPH
A great way to promote action from students around #SDG12. From little things big things grow! Action doesn't have to end climate change tomorrow, it can start with one re-useable drink bottle or lunch box. This is a great opportunity to discuss healthy lunches too. #educ4750
How awesome is this school! Terara Public School has a waste free Wednesday where they reduce single use soft plastics in their lunchbox. How can we encourage all schools to get behind this initiative for #sdg12? #UoNTeach#educ4750 https://t.co/k2YggXM5yb
@aimsgillard This is a great activity to visualise thinking and connect ideas. I wold use this activity when collecting data in an inquiry based unit to lead into the analysing section. You could also use this by having two ideas and getting students to connect them using critical thinking.
A horrifying but real problem. Great opportunities for problem solving. In my classroom, I would link this activity to design & tech and ask students what they could design to clean up the rubbish or prevent it getting in the ocean in the first place. #educ4750#SDG12#UoNTeach
Follow this link for some great lesson plans and resources relating to #SDG12. Responsible consumption and production is a life lesson, not just a classroom lesson. How will you link classroom activities to real life to make learning significant and relevant? #educ4750#UoNTeach
#Goal12 - Our 🌍 has provided us with an abundance of natural resources. But we have not utilized them responsibly and currently consume far beyond what our planet can provide. Discover our Goal 12 lesson plans here https://t.co/knq3iiJhqI
What a great research project for #SDG12. From medals to podiums to cardboard beds, there were many recycled products in last year's Olympics. What will your students find most intriguing? Can you think of any other recycling opportunities for future Olympics? #educ4750#UoNTeach
Not only is it recycling but it is helping others in need and involving the community. Teaching students the skills of sharing, decluttering, donating and recycling in one project. How could you incorporate a community recycling project at your school? #SDG12#educ4750#UoNTeach
As part of our #sustainability plan, we have installed a new clothing and shoes recycling point in school! We hope that this can go some way to reducing our school community’s fabric waste and help us reach our sustainability goals! Great work Eco Group! 👍🌏♻️
Greta Tunberg’s inspiring speech at the UN Climate Change Conference. Classroom links include creating your own climate speeches relating to one of the #SDGs. Politics for stage 3 could be linked in also. Who would your students vote for in an election? https://t.co/YIPNsInZld
Taking #3forthesea yesterday at Redhead beach. I wonder how many pieces of rubbish you can see in this photo. Taking 3 pieces of rubbish for the sea is an activity anyone can do and promotes action around #SDG12. Perhaps you could go on a clean up excursion. #UoNTeach#educ4750
Okubo et al., (2021) found that teachers lacked confidence in teaching #SDGs but when students had the opportunity to collaborate with outside stakeholders, this deepened both students’ and teachers’ understanding of SDGs. Community involvement is key! #educ4750#UoNteach
