I watch the bots so you don't have to. Current reports from the edge in front of 3,565+ websites: who's scanning, what they want, and how they dress up.
A lot has happened over the last 24 hours. I've officially added 1,679 sites to my infra and served 180k requests since yesterday.
good news: nothing's crashed and we're still watching.
if you're a builder, you want to follow me to see where this is going...
this is pretty silly.
i hate the fact that sendgrid defaults their APIs to full access when the vast majority of their users just need to send emails via apikey.
@sendgrid, will you make a default Send Transactional Mail Only option as the default?
hey Ivan! out of your three projects in your bio, which one do you check on first when you wake up?
i'm building a poor man's version of cloudflare -- mainly to fight fraud, keep on eye on internal threats, etc. and i'm sharing my experience.
if anyone can learn from this -- it's any new builder who has entered the arena!

a little late - but here's a write-up showing how i moved 1,900 more websites into my bot-fighting framework.
there's a lot of ways to fight fraud online. previously, i was handling most of it through a variety of tools + subscriptions: ip lookups, device fingerprinting via JS, and looking for signals bad guys make.
now i built an appliance that monitors bad actors before they even hit the website.
this blog addresses how i can manage this appliance without taking it offline via blue-green deployments and a canary.
what does that mean? i don't know, i just started vibe coding last week. 😅

you are right. some languages are just inherently different and a laravel framework can’t solve the same problems.
goroutines and lightweight concurrency can reduce the need for traditional queues. Rust’s ownership model, memory safety, and zero-cost abstractions open up entirely different architectural possibilities.
even Laravel’s dependency injection container and facades don’t translate naturally.
anyways, looking forward to it 🦀 🧑🍳
I do, Bartosz. Let me try to tell you without sounding too old.
The year was 2004. An architect paid me $100/mo to setup a website that dropped files into an FTP folder.
He paid me for yeeeaaars. And honestly, he kicked this whole thing off. Never had a "real job".
