Alan Hale, the astronomer who co-discovered Comet Hale-Bopp, the most-watched comet in human history, has died at 68 on June 6.
On the night of July 22–23, 1995, Hale independently spotted the comet just minutes apart from co-discoverer Thomas Bopp. It was incredibly bright even far past Jupiter's orbit, heralding its spectacular appearance.

Happy birthday to the first astronaut to drive on the Moon, David Scott! 🥳
Scott flew on the Gemini VIII and Apollo 9 missions before landing on the Moon in 1971 for Apollo 15.

Eighty-two years ago today, freedom stood on the edge of extinction, and Allied forces stormed into hell to help save the world.
We will never forget the courage, the sacrifice, and the blood spilled on that fateful day.
One year ago today I was on Normandy beach thanking God for those men who stormed that beach, wave after wave, to free Europe from the Nazi Holocaust. This invasion brought the end of the Nazi reign and the end of the war less than a year later. My prayerful thanks to all the men and women who serve and protect this nation even today.

250 Years of American Heroes.
The bald eagle became a symbol of the United States in 1782.
Since then, generations of Americans have defended the freedoms represented by that symbol.
This Memorial Day, we honor the service members who gave their lives for our country and remember the freedoms that allow Americans to experience and share our public lands and wildlife.
As our nation approaches the Freedom 250 milestone, we remember that freedom has always carried a cost.
🇺🇸 President Trump just honored the 13 service members who lost their lives in Operation Epic Fury, asking the family of Maj. Ariana Savino to stand
"Ariana's selfless gift will NOT be in vain. Our debt to you is everlasting. And it's always going to end in victory."
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants."
"These incredible men and women gave their lives to ensure that the world's number one state sponsor of terror will NEVER have a nuclear weapon. And they won't."
On Memorial Day, we don’t just grill and chill. We honor our services members who made the ultimate sacrifice. They gave their country everything so that we can be free. They are the REAL HEROES. Let them never be forgotten.

"The soldier, above all others, prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war."
—Gen Douglas MacArthur
Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the people that gave their lives for our country. To those who put our nation before themselves, and to their family and friends left behind, we honor your sacrifice.
Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that freedom is never free. Today, we honor the brave American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
We remember our fallen warriors, pray for their loved ones and Gold Star Families, and give thanks for those who gave everything.
God Bless America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
