@kcondranhrce Great post Kailey! If I think back to when I was a middle or high school student, I definitely would not have been able to resist the temptation of using AI to do my homework. I wonder how many students struggle to regulate their impulses around AI?
@ASpelrem1 I agree! After my biology degree, I realized that First Nations cultures understood Ecology and Sustainability in ways that were centuries beyond their European counterparts. I would love to see more conservation ecology woven into our cultural practices.
@ASpelrem1 Great post Andrew! I often find myself very surprised at staff meetings and PD when teachers can't read a graph or draw conclusions. Do you think a more rigorous research class in the B.Ed programs would help rectify this issue?
@kj_macleod As humans, we tend to learn more from our mistakes rather than our accomplishments. If we use AI to eliminate any possible mistakes, is there actually authentic learning happening at all? How will we build frustration resilience during productive struggles?
Very interesting read! This is a very hot topic right now across the globe. Where is the balance between necessity versus convenience of AI usage in education? We need to dig deeper and really ask ourselves, do we NEED this or do we just WANT it? #ED611045

Learning is messy for student and teacher both. Mistakes will be made. Modelling kindness, humility and hard-work creates security and community. #ED611045
Students notice what gets attention in a classroom.
When effort, kindness and contribution are what get named out loud, those are the behaviours students start to associate with success.
That shift starts with one deliberate decision about what to notice first. Our free guide gives you five practical ways to make that decision consistently.

Pupils with special educational needs (SEND) continue to have some of the highest rates of suspensions and permanent exclusions. Nearly nine in 10 permanent exclusions that happen in primary schools involve a child who has SEND. https://t.co/TxDS6UATxZ

Strong teacher-student relationships are not a bonus part of learning.
They shape whether students feel safe enough to participate, take academic risks, receive feedback, and stay engaged when the work becomes difficult.
This does not mean teachers have to be liked by every student in a popularity-contest sense. It means students need to believe the adult in the room sees them, respects them, and remains steady even when correction is needed.
Learning requires vulnerability.
Students are more willing to be vulnerable with adults they trust.

A poll can be bias and misleading. Maybe we need some more reliable research in what Canadians believe. Will the removal of "no fail policies" actually improve student success? #ED611045
Canadians are sending a clear message about K-12 education.
A new https://t.co/zUEKXhpoTl poll found:
• **53%** believe the public school system has gone in the wrong direction over the past 20 years.
• **77%** oppose "no fail" policies that automatically move students to the next grade regardless of performance.
The poll also found strong support for restoring traditional discipline, allowing teachers to deduct marks for late assignments, and getting back to teaching core subjects.
Do you think Canada's K-12 school system needs a reset?
