Watching my parents grind 14 hrs/day was a blessing in disguise.
They didn’t buy me everything so I learned on my own.
They didn’t watch my games so I changed that for my kids.
Pain is the best teacher.
Change the way you see things and the things you see will change.
You can get pretty damn far in life by just doing the "old fashioned" things well:
• Look people in the eye
• Be reliable
• Stand up straight
• Do what you say you'll do
• Be on time
• Hold the door
• Have a confident handshake
Some things will never go out of style.
There are a few moments in life when you have to stop everything you are doing,
and work obsessively for a few months on something that will define your next decades.
Opportunities don’t care about your life circumstances, they come and go, so learn to recognize these moments.
A weak mind must be constantly entertained and stimulated. A strong mind can occupy itself and, more important, be still and vigilant in moments that demand it.
A true sign of intelligence is understanding that other people may have opinions that differ from yours, but you don’t have to attack or berate them over it.
One day, you are going to wake up, and look at yourself in the mirror.
You will be 60, 70, 80, and you will be wondering how life went by so quickly,
and your only regrets will be what you didn’t have the courage to do.
Reviewing some old notes to myself and found this one:
You just need to have the courage to eliminate everything that doesn't directly feed what you really want.
"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." — Marcus Aurelius
