Happy New Year Teachers! To kick off 2021, I'm giving away two signed CLASS SETS of an I Survived Book of your choice, plus a Zoom with your class. Follow me and RT if you want to enter. I'll notify winners this Thursday, 1/7.
@pernilleripp I only give suggestions, not requirements. Every additional suggestion beyond saying their name is challenge by choice. Examples I list are:
-Nicknames
-Preferred pronouns
-Family members
-Favorites
-Things they are looking forward to in 5th grade
-Things they are worried about
@MrsSLittle I love Century Gothic as well, but I also use Cabin and Acme pretty frequently on Google! Thank you for understanding the importance of fonts! Have you seen the documentary on Helvetica? We had to watch it for an edtech class in college - fascinating!
@NicholasFerroni More cloth masks, face shield (we are being provided one, but I want to swap and disinfect), hot-washable clothes (likely scrubs), scrub caps, and a will.
I want African American students and families at City High to know I stand with you. My heart is with you. I promise to do everything in my power to make sure City High Is a great school that is safe for everyone and does not tolerate hate or racism. We love and stand by you!
@howie_hua Student picked boogers, ate them in front of his peers, and then refused to wash his hands or use hand sanitizer. The student continued to escalate over the issue, wouldnβt let it go, and started screaming expletives while throwing objects across the room. I teach 5th grade. π€’
I donβt know what will happen this fall when schools across the US should be opening, but I do know that worrying about it will not change anything. Try your best to enjoy your summer break when it comes and focus on your mental health.
@NicholasFerroni@Bitmoji@Facebook YES - I ran into this problem when I was thinking about making a @Bitmoji class photo... my student in a wheelchair could not be appropriately represented! I was annoyed about my lost next project π and then I realized how she must feel about itβΌοΈβΌοΈπ‘
We are looking to welcome some talented teachers into the District for the 2020-21 school year. Check out our openings at https://t.co/pPnLqecJXB. To be considered for future openings please apply to the Elementary and/or Secondary Classroom Teacher postings. #ICCSDTogether
@jmattmiller@Seesaw Listening now and appreciate how you mentioned that we donβt have to do all of these NOW. Giving ourselves grace is so important, especially during this insane time. Gradually incorporating new ideas will keep us - and students! - from feeling overwhelmed π‘ #SeesawChat
@hickstro@emilyfranESL I love @googledocs for this reason - being able to recover drafts (and see the writing from beginning to end) is huge! And comments for back and forth disc. when f2f canβt happen right now! And the suggesting mode is brilliant for fixing small grammar stuff! Love! #WritingMatters
A3: Both f2f and virtually, #feedback occurs often and throughout the process. The stage of the writing MUST be considered to give appropriate and usable fb. It may be questions to spur further thinking earlier; editing much later. Always focusing on growth! #WritingMatters
Q3: Feedback is critical to refining skills. When in the writing process do you typically provide #feedback? What form does your feedback typically take? #WritingMatters
A2: Joining a little late, hello #WritingMatters group! This question makes me think about my OWN struggles when I have to write under a deadline. I need time to brainstorm, narrow down ideas, plan, revise, edit, etc. Ss do too! Remote learning gives us that time for best work!
Q2: Blended learning shifts control from teacher to learner. How can giving students more control over the time, place, pace & path of their learning improve #literacy skills? #WritingMatters
Students need to see our faces and hear our voices - thank you @sfryer for speaking to my teacher heart and sharing your expertise with the @Seesaw community! π #Seesawchat#teachertwitter#SEL
