A busy afternoon in Reception building ramps. They climbed up high, lifted the guttering and adjusted the height to see what would happen. All that reaching, lifting and carrying helps build the shoulder strength children need to develop writing skills. ##AmbitiousCurriculum
Our beans have shot up in just two weeks! Reception have been carefully watering them, making sure they get plenty of light and noticing every change. We are really enjoying exploring what plants need to grow. #AmbitiousCurriculum
“Do this in memory of me.” After learning about the Last Supper, Reception reflected on how our shared meal each day brings us together and helps us grow in kindness, friendship and community. #ChristAtTheCentre@stambcathlife
Reception explored the power of the wind during outdoor learning. We tied balloons to our arms to feel how strong the wind could pull and move the balloons. This helped us to investigate natural forces and observe weather in action! #AmbitiousCurriculum
Our classroom incubator is warm and quiet and the countdown has begun. We designed posters to remind everyone to keep the eggs safe and gentle. We even made a countdown calendar so we can watch the days tick by. #AmbitiousCurriculum
A huge thank you to our wonderful reading buddies in Y2 who joined us this morning to share their favourite books. We loved listening to you read. The expression and character voices you used made every story come alive and brought so much joy to our classroom. @MrsSadiqY2
Acorn Farm came to visit school today and what a fantastic experience it was! We learned the names of some animals and their babies. We talked about what we could see, hear and feel. Everyone had the chance to hold and feed the animals too. #AmbitiousCurriculum
A great start to the week in Reception as curiosity takes over. Our eggs have arrived and are safely tucked into the incubator. The children are so excited as we begin exploring life cycles and watching new beginnings unfold right here in class. #AmbitiousCurriculum
Planting bean seeds as we learn to love God and love everyone. Caring for new life helps us remember that small acts of kindness help things grow. 🌱 #ChristAtTheCentre@stambcathlife
Nursery and Reception spent time outside in nature today for our Celebration of the Word, taking a quiet moment to notice God’s creation as we continue our Lenten journey. #ChristAtTheCentre@MissMiller_EYFS@stambcathlife
Reception explored shades of green outdoors this week, using words like light, dark and bright as they created their own shade chart. They then experimented with colour mixing, discovering how to make new tones. Inspired by Monet and Van Gogh, the children practised making marks.
Reception have been playing keepy uppy with balloons this week to develop core strength, coordination and shoulder stability. All essential for pencil control and forming letters. Through fun, active play, we’re strengthening the muscles we need for confident writing.
For Safer Internet Day, we talked about how voice assistants are not real people, they are computer programs that follow instructions. We discussed what humans can do that technology cannot like showing kindness, understanding feelings and helping friends. #SaferInternetDay
What a wonderful moment in Reception today as some of the children showcased their fantastic oracy skills. They performed The Shiny Snail poem with clear voices and growing confidence. A real pleasure to watch them shine. #EveryChildAReader@RuthMiskinEdu@vshutt04
