@PastoralKaty I completely agree and know so many parents of school age children who do too. My own children can’t cope with being out of routine. 2 weeks at October and Feb half terms would be a game changer - time to work AND rest.
A fully annotated poetry anthology, I’m beginning to think, is probably only useful to about 20% of students and so, so time consuming. How are people making sure their students know the poems without it being overkill? @Team_English1@LitdriveUK@AQAEnglish
@danicquinn @mtptproject We have a childminder who is an absolute godsend - so flexible and treats my kids like her own. The oldest has been at pre school two days a week and our childminder does drop off and pick up for that too - she’ll also do wraparound when she starts reception.
@JCooperHistory @mtptproject A proper return to work interview to discuss timetable and expectations etc. /update on policies. I’m going to suggest a Buddy system at my school so there’s someone who’s returned relatively recently to touch base with. After baby number 2 especially, it’s assumed you’re fine.
@volewriter@Radley_and_me@handm The fit is also really interesting - a friend recently plain t shirts for her 7yo daughter from the boys section in next. She had to size down - it seems that retailers are pushing an “ideal body” onto girls from a young age too.
I’ve had two big “I don’t know if I want to teach” - the most recent after returning to work after my second maternity leave. In the first I picked up ‘Boys Don’t Try’ and now ‘The Boy Problem’ and both reignited a fire that I had lost. Thank you @mr_englishteach @Positivteacha
Having a debate about whether or not we should set in English. I always refer to the @BoysDontTryPod chapter and come down on the side of mixed ability but wondering if anyone can point me to some research? @Team_English1#edutwitter
