Elephants, gaurs, deer and countless other species are returning to areas once overrun by invasive plants as the TN Forest Department, GOTN continues one of India’s largest ecosystem restoration efforts. More than 40,000 hectares of Forests have been restored, including nearly 31,000 hectares cleared of lantana. The true measure of success, however, is not the number of hectares cleared but the return of life. Landscapes once choked by invasive species are witnessing the revival of native habitats, with large mammals and ground-nesting birds reclaiming these restored spaces. The removed biomass is converted into briquettes. Around 120 MT of briquettes have been supplied to local tea factories creating a circular climate solution This pioneering initiative advances two global goals simultaneously: biodiversity recovery through ecosystem restoration and climate action through sustainable carbon management. Kudos all the DFOs, DDs and frontline Staff who are behind this initiative. Video DD MTR Thiru Ganeshan #TNForest #Generationrestoration

Using this beautiful bag as a fruit basket feels like placing a piece of art on the table. Crafted from Bhavani Jamakkalam, the celebrated handwoven textile of Tamil Nadu, it carries centuries of tradition in its bold colours, sturdy weave, and intricate craftsmanship. Once cherished in homes and weddings as an auspicious part of ceremonies, it remains a symbol of heritage and is protected today with a Geographical Indication tag. This once-forgotten craft is now seeing a graceful revival, thanks to the efforts of dedicated artisans, organisations, and institutions working to preserve it. A timeless weave, still finding beautiful new ways to belong #Jamakkalam

This needs to be said: We are at Jim Corbett and apparently there is no restriction on loud music till 10:30pm in the night. The roads are full of cars speeding around, at least 30 jeeps plying in one area of the forest, you can see brunt land on both sides and massive tree felling.
So guilty of attending a family wedding here, I cannot say. There’s one I skipped because I didn’t want to be a party to destroying the habitat of animals. But why is Uttarakhand government allowing weddings in a forest reserve? I know my tweet will have zero reaction but

Do you observe and check this while buying your Bananas?
Have a close look at the two different banana strips, the top one with a mild green stem is from a plant that has been naturally ripened. While the bottom one is completely yellow till the stem, this has been ripened with chemicals!
If each one of us observe this and ask questions to our vendors, then the chain will go back to the farmer who will be discouraged to use chemicals on food.
Fruits and veggies grown by natural farming methods are friendly on our gut and keep the soil nourished as well!
