Today I had the pleasure of welcoming students from Rudolph Gordon Elementary in Simpsonville during their field trip to the State House. Engaging young people and getting them curious about civics at an early age is vitally important to their long term success.

I have enjoyed learning how to use twitter, wikis, and blogs in my classroom. These tools continue to improve my instruction and students experience! Check out this blog post reflecting on my time in EDUC 6710.

@Mara_Kohler#TRUTH The phrase "why reinvent the wheel" should be thrown out of the window when it comes to today's classrooms! We should be constantly changing the way we teach based on how students' and technology are evolving. #6710DB2
@TeachesAviators I could not agree more! Students can learn so much from each other and from the world around them. It is amazing what we can turn into a teachable moment and how real-world experiences can be incorporated into everyday instruction. #6710DB2
While I believe in the importance of student-led learning, this is a big shift I am still struggling with implementing as a classroom teacher. I have a hard time completing letting go of control and allowing them to guide themselves through important information. #6710DB2
A shift needs to happen in our classrooms! Teachers' mindsets should move from teacher-led learning to student-led learning.
When students guide instruction, it leads to engaged, empowered, and successful students! #6710DB2#studentledlearning
