Today we learned about challenges that are faced when living in Northern Canada. We learned about Inuit way of life and some ways that they adapted to challenges as well

Today in reading we discussed the Diary of Anne Frank. We learned how it is also used to learn about historical events. Students wrote their own diary entries about an important event in their life and in writing we are using the editing checklist to improve our diary entry

For the last few days we have looked at the elements of a diary or journal. We are discussing his journals are used to look back at historical events. We compared tone in Wimpy Kid and a 1920s diary and made inferences about life at that time

Today we looked at a tray of brownies to compare fractions. We are asking what is bigger..1/3 or 1/6?

Yesterday we researched the question “How do industries across Canada affect the environment?” Students chose a region and researched the important jobs. Today in art we used pastels for our background and speech bubble explaining how jobs impact Canadian landform regions

Today we learned about homophones. We also looked at criteria for writing a catchy back cover blurb and made our own. This is helping us learn about elements of fiction and non fiction

Today students chose two regions to compare and contrast. This gathering of research will help with our art project next week as well as our final summative to be discussed next month
