👩🏻🎨 Let’s continue discussing how to design a playlist!
The 2nd part of our design involves thinking about a 🛣️ learning pathway, & there are 3️⃣ big buckets for components or activities that we might want to include in our playlist.
👀 Watch to see what they are.

Actor Harrison Ford encouraged graduates at Arizona State University to "build something that didn't exist yesterday" in a rousing commencement speech on Monday, telling them to "go change the world."
"When opportunity presents, recognize it. This is your time. Own it."
The Quadratic Formula.
The Quadratic Formula is one of the most powerful tools in algebra — it can solve every quadratic equation and even predict the nature of the roots before solving them .📚
Used in physics, engineering, computer science, and real-world problem solving, this formula proves that mathematics is more than numbers — it’s a language of patterns and logic 💙
“Math becomes beautiful when you understand the reason behind the formula.” ✍️🔥
🤓 Do you make a habit of gathering pre-assessment data before crafting your lesson plan?
If your answer is “no,” you might want to reconsider.

Three things that seem to be contributing to poor math achievement:
1. Multiple strategies for novice learners.
Recommendation: Choose an efficient strategy that generalizes easily to (e.g.) larger numbers, teach it well, give lots of practice on it.
2. Too much focus on manipulatives & pictures.
Recommendation: Fluency with abstract symbols sets kids up for later success. Move quickly to the abstract - that's where the majority of practice should be.
3. Not enough practice.
Recommendation: Give lots of practice and then give more. It's how we get good at math.
Two teachers can teach the same curriculum with the same activities—and get completely different results.
Because in the end, it’s the teacher who brings the curriculum to life. There’s no way around that.
The ultimate quick-reference guide to the most important functions in mathematics!
From the stoic constant f(x)=c, through the noble linear, the chaotic |x|, the parabolic x², the radical √x, the cubic rebel x³, all the way to the transcendental sin/cos/tan and their asymptotic tantrum at π/2.
Every mathematician’s first-year toolkit in one chart.
The teacher shortage is not a lack of teachers.
It's a lack of teachers willing to work under a gov that smears them, takes their rights, and causes poor working conditions.
It is a shortage of job postings due no infrastructure or low funding.
The shortage was created.
Schools equipped to teach auto shop/welding/beauty culture etc. might be very glad to have industry professionals (willing to take on a lot of stress and likely a pay cut) as instructors. Not all schools can offer those courses. How does it help kids in a class of 40 in Math 30?
The 4th dimension of teacher engagement is social engagement with colleagues!
What does it actually take for a teacher to try something new in the classroom?
Courage, for sure. But also a community that makes the risk worth taking.
My research on teacher engagement showed that time spent with colleagues designing lessons, sharing what's working, and troubleshooting together made teachers more effective & less stressed.

No, we should not “meet students where they are.” We should teach the standards for the course, so students don’t miss out on grade-level instruction. Many students may also need intervention, and differentiation can’t take its place.
Students remember more when they write it down on paper. Not type it. Not screenshot it. Write it!
The act of writing slows students down, adds tactile feedback, and helps lock it into memory.
Did you know that ~20% of students need more than whole-group instruction to reach their potential?
Tier 2 means targeted support & meaningful extension for advanced learners. Both matter if you want an equitable, engaged classroom: https://t.co/6YW9fZf2JC
