@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Be genuine in your intentions, be purposeful in your actions, try , try, try. Be honest even when you are the one who makes a mistake.
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Put myself their position. Consider the root of the "underperforming". Assume it is not deliberate. Ask them questions to help them reflect. Last step: Explicit , step by step guidance. I am talking about my students FYI. #noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Knowing what's in you is a way of self assessing in turn, helps you appreciate others and their strengths. This is critical because when finding our strengths we learn what we can work. #noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod I think that everyone matters from the custodians to the principal. I don't think that a unit is functional without all its pieces. I remind myself that all I can do is my best i know and keep focused on self improvement#noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod I do a personal after action review and evaluation. Are the results I am trying to accomplish realistically possible.. What went well, what things should I work on.. and try it all again. #noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Most of us don't mean to gossip. We vent to a 'trusted' friend. They share it with their 'trusted' friend. Information with new judgement and interpretation is changed every step of the way. Maybe, stop sharing?#noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15 We used to do these notes. Where people would write a positive attribute about you and leave it posted outside your door. I mean everyone really seem to love getting them.#noelliveyourexcellence
@JennieChavez15 I try to have engaging conversation but not just about educational skills, I remind them of the importance creating, challenging and taking initiative when digging for a deeper knowledge. I try to offer motivation and encouragement.
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod By not quitting on them and myself. Everyday I try, regardless if yesterday they refused or were unmotivated. A new day brings new hope that they will succeed as long as I don't quit on them.
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod My Day: Self-asses/reflect; contingent and constant. Follow the five steps in explaining; accept results are not always as planned. Think rationally, rather than controlling the narrative, how do I include them? My answer usually... leveled questioning#noelliveyourexcellence
@Raquel_L_Rod@JennieChavez15 Modeling excellence; be what you want to see? Positivity an negativity spread at the same speed so which one do you want to be surrounded by? Pick and start with yourself. Allow for bad days, we are all human and get back on a positive track.
@Raquel_L_Rod@JennieChavez15 He invested time to learn about. He understood enough to keep his distance but still let her know she mattered. In order to be intentional with our interactions, we should start by learning more about others and make our approach as considerate as possible when interacting
@RachelGalvan15 @JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod The book mentioned a good example a situation where both were needed. Karen making an exception and allowing children in the building. Karen needed to make an, on the spot, independent choice. Eventually it needed to become collaborative consensus ,concerning the actual policy.
@aileen_pitt@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Thank you for bringing SEL up. It's true, following these lessons are examples of taking care of ourselves. It is a reminder that we don't have to feel at a loss of where to begin to care for ourselves, SEL is a great place to start that self care.
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod We need to start by turning our attention introspectively. It reminds of when your in an airplane and they tell you to first put on mask then tend to others. Don't try to save the world yet neglect to save yourself.
@JennieChavez15@Raquel_L_Rod Both! It really depends on the situation. From what I understood, its okay to work and think independently and do what works best for you/your students. Shifting back and forth between the two is acceptable and we should see it as independence not isolation behavior.
@Raquel_L_Rod@JennieChavez15 π Exactly, trust ! We can be at ease with each other knowing that we all want to support each other. This can only happen if we all are on the same positive mindset.
@cmatta88@Melissa35499683@JennieChavez15 Yes, and through the SEL practices we can definitely work on ourselves. Through practice we will be able to better model stress coping skills rather than expecting our kiddos to just know how to deal.
