Today, Ss were able to interact w/explorer, Theanne Schiros @ExploreInside about using biology to create textiles for sustainable clothing & other objects. Connecting the talk to our legacy PBL & our 9th grade globalization unit @BartonAcademy
I love representing @BartonAcademy in Montgomery @ALHistoryEdu Today is always a favorite of mine & @KSCoffeeTeacher b/c we are able to dig into primary sources! We discovered the Judkins family & even read through Octavia LeVert’s diary from the 1840’s. Beautiful penmanship!
🖐️I love my school! We have such a unique history & location, which is not even touching on how we are changing the face of education through PBL (project based learning) & the community partnerships/opportunities afforded to our Ss & their interests.

I am so incredibly proud of my @BartonAcademy faculty, staff, students, parents, and community! Increasing from 94 to 97 and performing highest in our district and region within our first two years of reopening is REMARKABLE! Go Explorers! #bartonexplorers#undertheBartondome
One perk of working @BartonAcademy is location. Another is choosing the weekly elective you teach, a film class that meets on Tuesdays. Add in a film production just blocks from school & that equals happy Ss. Thanks to @amandau27 & Cody for making this happen & Josh for helping!
Spent yesterday at the Alabama Holocaust Education Center in Birmingham, learning about the process of storytelling & memoir, lead by Menachem Kaiser. Can’t wait to share my learning w/Ss @BartonAcademy for our PBL!
Our film exploratory @BartonAcademy began working with a local screenwriter, Christian Mott, on the script for their first film. The film is excepted to be completed by the end of October. I love this collaboration with the Mobile Film Office!
9th grade Ss @BartonAcademy have been digging deeper into trade networks around the world between 1200-1450. Ss are creating annotated maps, researched Indian Ocean trade & today explored camel caravan trade through saddles. #engaginghistory
8th grade Ss @BartonAcademy reviewed for our first test with Quizlet Live & an old fashion game of War with ancient Mesopotamian societies. #engaginghistory
I am so excited about collaborating with the Mobile Film Office for our “Lights, Camera, Action” class. Today, Kelly reviewed types of jobs in film & brainstormed with Ss @BartonAcademy about their first film topic!
