@BaileyBeal_ I think there's a big difference between EQUALITY - treating everyone the same and EQUITY - allowing different things for different individuals based on their needs.
Because we are unique, we come to the table with differences that sometimes requires different handling.

Not everyone's parents are able to be in the classroom or attend meetings with teachers BUT that doesn't mean they don't care about their child's education
Being an educator who recognizes this and makes accommodations will be integral to forming bonds with the parents

As a student, missing a single assignment was always the worst thing possible, I had a teacher who used this method of grading which helped alleviate some of my anxieties and stresses about assignments!

Teachers are with their students 8-10 hours a day, they should be able to be a positive advocate for students to express themselves in the right way. Never should students be taken away from learning even the hard topics #3310txst

Top-down organization is referring to higher ups dictating what the administration should be enforcing of their teachers, who should then be enforcing with their students, who are therefore highly limited as to what they can and cannot do.

Students and teachers both deserve more rights within the classroom setting. The system has become organized in a top-down manner which limits both teacher and students' abilities to be open and feel heard. There would need to be major changes to this system sadly.

Each child we encounter is unique. No two are 100% alike. Just as our students are unique, how we approach teaching should play into that. While everyday doesn't need to look completely different, we need to recognize that we are not teaching to the "average" student! #3310TXST
