Proud Mum and Sheffielder. My views are mine alone and do not reflect those of my employer or the organisations I may be part of. I swear sometimes - not sorry!
@drcarolinej Go forth and multiple! If people on £100k can’t pay for their childcare, there is something seriously wrong with how they manage their money.
The videos of @NYCMayor and @AOC laughing are not true. I was standing next to them the whole time. The camera just caught her greeting him hello. Multiple other politicians were laughing and joking behind me. Republicans and Democrats.
@bingle_colin I feel sorry for my friends still working at Sheffield University, especially the ones being bullied. Hard working people being targeted by managers toeing the corporate line and making their lives hell. I’m so glad I got out when I did.
@bingle_colin your comment has disappeared from the post but I took a screenshot, as I had an inkling it would be removed. They don’t like being shown up in public 😂
It’s always the same people involved as well, so nothing changes and HR do sweet Fanny Adam’s about it. Nepotism remains, so it’s not what you know but who you know. If you can only get on by kissing arse, I don’t want to know you.
It’s always nice catching up with ex-work colleagues, not only to see how everyone is, but also to confirm you did the right thing in taking VSS over a year ago. Toxic workplace, toxic management. Bullying is rife in higher education.
The secret academic takes on the topic of EDI and it is utterly brilliant, timely and very funny. And it is also very right. It is also not me. I agree with 'they'. But not me. If there is just one thing you must read today, then this is it.

This was a difficult piece to write. It was also necessary.
I am one of the 8,711 victims warned that our attackers could be released early under Labour’s scheme. People should know who stands to benefit.
Malcolm James, then in his late fifties, kidnapped me in 2019, shortly after my fourteenth birthday. He held me for several hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted me.
I remained silent until Sarah Everard disappeared. She was abducted from a road that crosses the one from which I had been taken. I feared that the same men were responsible, and that my silence had allowed it to happen again.
James was convicted of five sexual offences against a child. He is a repeat offender with previous convictions, including for violence. I already believed his eight year sentence was inadequate. Now he may be released earlier still.
Andy Burnham has promised to review this scheme. He must exclude rapists, child sex offenders and repeat violent criminals.
I refuse to have spent longer securing justice than James spends in prison.
@bingle_colin@UniversitiesUK Most of the consultants are rubbish as well. You only have to know that, after the debacle of the student lifecycle project.
I wonder, on the holiest of days in the Christian calendar, how many of the people who keep griping that this is a Christian country, actually went to church today?
Oh wow, more fireworks going off during daylight. I don’t care about them going off, I’m just always surprised people will waste money on them and then set them off when they can’t see them! I’m baffled by the waste!
I love Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook etc. but I can’t stand the 365 system! I never thought I’d say this but Google is actually better, so much easier to navigate.
Please, for the sake of my sanity, can the writers of @emmerdale kill off Joe and Dawn! He’s just unlikeable and she winds me the hell up! Either the actress is crap or the character is just boring and irritating.
