@lanatheteacher@PISD_RISE I felt the same sting about New TOY because I felt that I had worked really hard to earn it. I agree that reframing the idea that they earned it and to be happy for them would have helped me move on easier too. Here’s to getting Teacher of the Year next year! #pisdRISEchat
@TeachLoveMelody@PISD_RISE Yes! I laughed at myself many times this past year and it definitely helped me move on from mistakes and not dwell or obsess over it. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A6: Allowing the “ANTs”. Those automatic negative thoughts got to me a lot last year. Learning to dismiss those thoughts and not dwell on them is something I will be more mindful about next year. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A5: I had a few students last year that really pushed my buttons. Reframing could have helped if instead of saying I “have to” I said “I get to” have a fresh start today, I get to teach them something new. That mindset could have given a better start to my class. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A4: I can cultivate gratitude in my life by making a list of the good things to happen in a day. I love lists and I always have pen and paper near. This is something that I could pick up that would help me see the good instead of focusing on the bad or stressful. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A3: One of the application points that really stuck with me was the me too mindset. “Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean me first, it means me too”. I think I start to think I’m being selfish for taking care of myself something and I want to work on that. #pisdRISEchat
@SW33T_H34RTjess@PISD_RISE Yes! The stress coming out to student and home life happened to me this past year, I’m excited to learn some strategies to avoid that too.
@Jmorales_15@PISD_RISE I agree! The stress got to me and it came out at my students a few times this year. I want to learn how to love teaching through those stressful times too.
@PISD_RISE A19: My favorite moments teaching so far are hearing the students say they are glad to be in my class, that they love me as their teacher, that they like history because of how I teach it, and hearing those “ah-ha” moments when they get a concept. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A18: I am constantly learning this year. Learning new ways to incorporate technology, ways to teach, how my students learn, and more information about my content. This has changed how I teach and how I look at teaching. #pisdRISEchat
@kasie_mcclain @PISD_RISE I agree! Observations are my favorite way to learn new ways to do things, new activities, and how to handle situations. It has really helped me grow this year too. I also find that PD and trainings are so helpful. #pisdRISEchat
@AHahne1331@PISD_RISE Yes! I’m constantly changing based on what worked for each class. Teaching it 5 times helps me see what works and what doesn’t for each class. The notes have really helped me too! #pisdRISEChat
@PISD_RISE A15: I have a journal that I started writing in to talk about what worked and what didn’t. This helps me see my progress through the semester and how the things I used to struggle with, I don’t anymore. We must always learn from others and our mistakes #pisdRISEChat
@PISD_RISE Q16: I have constantly tweaked as the day goes on, I get feedback on how my team teaches it and what is working for them. I may teach a totally different way in the afternoon than I did for my first period. #pisdRISEChat
@PISD_RISE I have done a few observations with my mentor and of my mentor. The feedback from them really helps. I love watching others teach because it helps me find my style. I want to do more research about classroom management because that’s my struggle this semester. #pisdRISEChat
