My 15-year-old daughter asked us tonight - “what everyone’s favorite times table?”
Her favorite is 7×3.
She wants to know. Do you have a favorite times table?

Has anyone used WebEx for video conferencing with students during the school closures? Is it free? Is there a time restriction on calls? Can you record? I just lost access to over 40 mins on Zoom and am about to start summer school next week. Thanks!
@Webex
If your students are learning about perpendicular lines, try out this @openmiddle problem from @mrschwen with them: https://t.co/3TKwumeOcl #MTBoS#iteachmath
CPM Math teachers: this is my first year using CPM curriculum (teaching Geometry). I have gotten through Ch. 8. What do you feel are the most important topics to cover from Ch. 9-12 so that students are prepared for Alg 2? Thanks!! @CPMmath
Got out a little later for my #mathwalk today after being a "Zoombie" in front of my computer! Used @jstevens009 Would you Rather! https://t.co/rFAz7sfq6Q #iteachmath#MTBoS
@MrOSullivanMath@iteachmathAll I use Doceri. It was on my district-issued iPad when I got it...haven't looked into anything else/if Doceri is free or not, but it works for what I need and am able to record when I teach and post videos to Google Classroom!
2/ Remember that
Area = Pi r^2
formula for a circle? That’s not really the formula. It should be:
Area = radius x (half circumference),
where circumf=Pi*diameter, so half of that is Pi*radius.
Proof: cut your pizza into small slices and arrange into an r x (C/2) rectangle...
With Pi Day just around the corner, let’s remember what Pi is all about.
After washing your hands thoroughly, cut the crust off a pizza pie and lay it across four others. You’ll see that the crust spans a little more than 3 pies. That’s Pi ≈ 3.14.
But that’s not all! (Cont’d)
@mzmathemagician@TheOneDoesMath I got the idea from Tom Stricklin's session at the CPM Conference! You stack up cups and put notecards in between, students have to determine how to remove the notecards so that all the cups fall into one stack. They aren't allowed to touch the cups. It was fun!
When Ss are taught the standard algorithm too soon, they are robbed of opportunity to investigate/invent their own strategies. W/ their own strat., they won’t make the errors we see that are common w/ the algorithm because their strategies make sense to them. #mtbos#mathchat
