"It came without worksheets,
It came without tears,
It came without rules and all of the fears,
What if math, he thought, doesn’t feel like a chore?
What if math, perhaps, means just a little bit more?"
--Marion Small
Monday, Jan. 24 is a PA day for all elementary students, including students in balanced calendar schools (Tony Pontes, Roberta Bondar and Ray Lawson public schools). Classes for secondary schools on Jan. 24 will run as usual.
Online students require my full attention. In person students also require my full attention. I cannot possibly teach and meet the needs of both groups at the same time. Our students deserve better than the hybrid model. #NoHybrid#HybridHurtsKids@PeelSchools@ETFOPeel
This video is absolutely perfect - give it a watch. After more than a year of teaching fully online, I can’t wait for the day that we can all go back in person and back to the NOISE of middle school! @SirWilliamGage @TrevorMuir https://t.co/1bGP2ByOrT
Grade 8s watched a fantastic presentation by David Suzuki this afternoon! Great messages about the critical role young people play in ensuring a better future for our planet, and the importance of humanity reinserting itself into the global ecosystem @SirWilliamGage
Got a 2.4 GPA my first semester in college. Thought maybe I wasn’t cut out for engineering. Today I’ve landed two spacecraft on Mars, and am now designing one for the Moon.
STEM is hard for everyone. Grades ultimately aren’t what matter. Curiosity and perseverance matter.
Diverse representation in the computer science field is so important for our students to see! Having coding in our math curriculum is one step towards making sure CS is accessible to everyone.
Only 3% of Black students learn computer science in high school or beyond. Please watch and share this video. Inspire a student. Together we can change the face of computer science. #BlackVoicesForCS
