Ex-NFL Center Jason Brown walked away from a $35 million contract to pursue a greater purpose in farming.

Growing up a talented athlete, Jason's skills landed him the dream: a successful career in the NFL... and all the wealth & fame that comes with it.

But in 2012, Jason felt called by God to give that up & become a farmer.

Also part of that perspective shift - Jason was the same age his brother was when his brother tragically lost his life by a mortar attack in Iraq.

Jason asked God what he should be doing with his life... the answer was to farm & give.

So, he moved back to North Carolina with his family to start First Fruits Farm, a 1,000 acre charitable farm.

Their mission is to feed the food-insecure populations of NC while spreading God's word.

To date, they've donated over 1,000,000 pounds of food.

Now, Jason never grew up on a farm... he learned how to farm through watching YouTube videos & with the help of community members.

Anchored on growing sweet potatoes, they also raise various livestock and other produce.

Jason and his wife have 8 children, all of whom help work the farm alongside volunteers.

They host events and raise awareness for food insecurity and biblical teachings.

“First Fruits Farm is more than a food ministry,” Jason says. “It is a beacon of hope where folks can see the gospel and love of Jesus Christ at work.”
