Trying to put my finger on why this video is so moving.

Of course it's a physically impressive rescue. But there's something about his demeanor. so steady, and patient leaning into the crashing walls of water, whatever his fate may be.

Then learning how young he is, when society has forgotten what teenagers are actually capable of.

Then him not hopping on TikTok to explain his point of view. Then his parents declining the gofundme.

It's the kind of young man, the kind of family we need more of. Glad the video was captured and we get celebrate this kind of human.

They were cussed at, booed, and intentionally tripped. One of them was berated until she cried. As usual, the people preaching “love and inclusion” prove to be the most hateful bigots of all. I will have much more tomorrow — and none of the culprits will be spared my fury.
