25 years ago, Rwanda introduced Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI).
Since then, the scheme has redefined access to healthcare and transformed countless lives.

Today, the CBHI benefits package has expanded even further to include advanced and specialized services such as cancer care, kidney treatment, interventional cardiology, neurosurgical and orthopedic procedures, among others.

Now is the time to further strengthen CBHI and continue building a resilient, high-quality health system for everyone.

Honored to receive the Presidential Golden Award for Best Abstract Presentation at the 6th Rwanda Society of Anesthesiologists and Critical Care Conference (RSACC 2025), held at @IrcadAfrica, where I presented our research on disparities in access to essential and timely surgical care across Rwanda.

This recognition belongs to the incredible team behind the work - @Guillaume1511, @Amen_Bella, @MugaboMB - and to Prof. @Fostino21 whose mentorship and vision continue to shape the next generation of surgical and anesthesia researchers in Rwanda.

Beyond the data, this work represents a commitment to ensuring that every Rwandan has timely, safe, and equitable access to safe surgery.

✨ A childhood dream come true ; it has been God since day one.

6 years down, chasing one goal:
✅ All exams passed
✅ Thesis successfully defended

Happy to share that I have now successfully fulfilled all academic requirements for graduation from #MedicalSchool 🎓🇷🇼.

Our undergraduate thesis, “Assessing Disparities in Geographic Accessibility and Surgical Capacity for Bellwether Procedures in Rwanda: A Quantitative and Geospatial Analysis,” examined how Rwanda can strengthen access to essential surgical care.

This would not have been possible without the mentorship and supervision of Prof @Fostino21, the support of @GSU_Rwanda, and the best teamwork of @Guillaume1511, @AmenBella & @MugaboMB. 🙏

Excited to carry this work forward and contribute to Rwanda’s #NSOAP and the #GlobalSurgery 2030 goals 🌍. Stay tuned for our forthcoming publication 📑

As this chapter closes, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to my journey in countless ways. My family and friends who kept me going. My all role models, mentors and advisers, Our lecturers and seniors who lifted us, taught us, and never tired of our wrong answers until they became right, To all residents, and nurses with who we worked alongside teaching us daily.

You didn't only share knowledge but also instilled compassion, discipline, and service.
