@sacwriter This is why I am sceptical of religious societies that actively separate themselves from the rest of civil society. If «worldly» or secular is inherently bad, the will to adhere to secular rules is limited by the church’s view of those rules. No church should have that authority.

@sacwriter @KittyAzora You’d think that belonging to and participating in a civil society, and wanting to adhere to it’s formal and informal codes, might fill in the gaps in one’s personal ethical code, so to speak.
But for many religious people there is no civil society in their lives without god.
