In the late 70's we strapped 50 lbs of plutonium to the back of a pair of spacecraft and sent them on a grand tour of our solar system giving us up close images of each of the planets before sending them off into interstellar space forever on escape trajectories. We still talk to those spacecraft today as the plutonium continues to decay giving off less and less energy.

That was 50 years ago. What sort of cool shit are we doing today?
