Today, the JSW steel @jswsteel plant at Paradip is being inaugurated.

The project will use around 12,000 cubic meters of water every hour, with nearly 10,000 cubic meters coming from Jobra Barrage, Cuttack.

Question is — what will #Cuttack get in return for giving this water?

One idea is dredging small islands around the Mahanadi near Jobra Barrage and creating large pond-type water storage systems for Cuttack.

The dredged sand can also be used to reclaim land at Rajkanika Island and Bali Bhuasuni Pitha, similar to how Manhattan was developed in New York. This can help build Udaipur-style 5-star hotels and financial hubs like Mumbai’s BKC, boosting Cuttack’s heritage and commercial growth — fulfilling HK Mahtab’s vision of making Cuttack like New York City.

@AdaniOnline group can consider relocating its proposed power plant and cement factory in cuttack to the Sundargarh power complex, where coal mining activity is already present.

Cuttack may not be the most suitable location for thermal and chimney-based industries.

Instead, the 1,000-acre land in Cuttack can be better utilized for a multimodal transport hub, aerospace, or other sunrise manufacturing industries that support clean and future-ready economic growth.

MP @BhartruhariM , @dpradhanbjp and MLA @sofiafirdous1 have already requested the @PMOIndia & @CMO_Odisha to develop Cuttack Airport as a cargo and aviation hub for eastern India.

GMR Group has taken over the Bhogapuram Airport project in Andhra Pradesh, while Adani Group currently has no major airport presence in eastern India or odisha.

Cuttack offers a strong opportunity to Adani’s 1,000 acres of land that is already well connected to Cuttack Airport through east coast railway, two national highway corridors (CRRR and NH-55), and state roads.

Adani Group can use the 1,000 acres of land for non-aeronautical requirements such as logistics, warehousing, commercial development, and other supporting infrastructure.

The airport already has multimodal connectivity in place. The focus should be on modern development and beautification of the existing infrastructure.

Land may also be acquired now to allow for 2–3 parallel runways in the future, based on growing requirements. Cuttack Airport already has a 3 km runway, which can be expanded up to 4.5 km for wide body cargo aircrafts.
