Sadly, I keep hearing from ocean funders & science organizations that they do not fund social science research.

Yet, these orgs claim that they aim to achieve human wellbeing, social equity & inclusive governance.

Good marine social science is needed to achieve these aims.

Our new paper is out showing a decline in Caribbean reef sharks in an MPA in Belize. We cant always assume an MPA is working and the benefits may be species-specific (we did not observe a decline in nurse sharks).
