@MiddleEastEye The UAE invests and these investments make real difference as Berbera testifies to it, but others fight these investments because they view these places through the lense of domination and think they should be the ones dominating.
@CrisisGroup If anything it just makes more engagement futile. Whatever extension is given, the situation will remain the same in my opinion. Mog may have more Turkish trained troops that without no effective government will also bring more threats.
@CrisisGroup The fact that the same conditions and threats remain in Somalia after second US led engagement almost 20 years ago shows the only progress made there is the capture of none existent state by the likes of Turkey.
@HAGGOOGANE I think realism requires not only short term considerations but also long term vaibilities and Somaliland offers dependable security because of its stable democratic institutions that enjoy the support of its citizens.
@HAGGOOGANE Somaliland stability and domacracy which is supported by its citizens is what makes its location more valuable, investments more secure and parrnerships more reliable.
@HAGGOOGANE If a country isn't supported by its citizens and it isn't stable politically and economically, it cannot protect its investors' investments and partnerships it forms no matter how important the location is.
@aiabdimusa I think the internal opposition should measure their criticism against what is real. It's one thing to criticise the performance but it's another to over-state the importance of an interview and link to the wider recognition campaign.
@aiabdimusa I must admit I didn't have the chance to listen to the interview but even if it was so bad, how can an interview bring or kill recognition that 35 years of reality in state building, democratic institutions, stability, abundance of natural resource and strategic location doesn't?

@_hudsonc@HornDiplomat We expect these kind of comments from Somalians but I must say your pen has descended into 18th century style mecenry soldering.
@aiabdimusa@AsstSecStateAF Madaxweynuhu shaqada uu u tegey ha soo dhamaysto, inaguna taageero un baynu ka mudanahay. Ciduu salaamaa inaga hada muhiim inoo ma aha sida qolyahan anynu deriska nahay. @_hudsonc FYI , an African country came forward to recognise Somaliland and it was not Africa that rejected it except the ones mentioned above, but the most vocal opponents were middle Eastern and Western countries.
