📢INSPECTION 📌
This morning, the Directorate of Monitoring and Inspections, led by the Caretaker, Ms. @mutumba_n , conducted an inspection visit to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital. The Directorate was joined by staff from the Jinja Regional Office led by the Regional Human Rights Officer, Mr. Farouk Nyende.
The team met Dr. Michael Mulowoza, who represented the hospital’s Senior Executive Consultant and discovered that although the hospital serves approximately 4.5 million people, its staffing levels stand at only 32%. In the maternity healthcare section, which receives about 80 expectant mothers daily, the available staffing comprises only five health workers.
Dr. Mulowoza revealed that the hospital continues to register high cases of bilharzia and efforts to sensitise communities about the disease remain constrained.
While some renovation works are ongoing at the hospital, there is still a need for additional infrastructure, adequate human resources, improved accessibility, and a multisectoral approach to effectively promote and protect the right to health.
The Commission is mandated to monitor health facilities to ensure the promotion and protection of the right to health. @ChairpersonUhrc@ckaheru@lo_apitta@shifrahl@SimeoNsubuga@rwabukurukuru@BKamadi@UNFPAUganda@MinofHealthUG #Jinja
