Type 2 diabetes is a major problem in healthcare. I think it's crazy how young adults have started becoming diabetics at such a young age. This could have been because of the food they have been eating. We need to promote healthy eating! @beh353#beh353

@DikoMadison@beh353 Hi Madison! I also think that this course would help us in creating care plans. Nutrition is a key component when it comes to our health. I learned a lot of new things that I would've never known if I didn't take this course! @beh353#beh353
I will be incorporating nutrition into my role as a PA. I will be working with children. I would guide them and teach them to eat healthier. I would use MyPlate as a reference and a visual to show them the portions of what their plate should consist of. @beh353#beh353
I also agree that we should invest in nutrition research. It could really lead to some great breakthroughs in healthcare. It is important to control chronic illnesses! @beh353#beh353
My latest op-ed out today in @statnews with @Dmozaffarian - explaining why investing in #nutrition research will be key to our future understanding of our #health and rise in chronic illness.

@madisoneosborne @EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 Hi Madison! I also agree with this! I didn't know that nutrition can impact dental health as well. I find this so fascinating! @beh353#beh353
Thank you @EmmaDArpinoRD for sharing some important things with us during the lecture. I learned that a RD actually figures out the next step if a patient can't digest some foods properly. I found that so cool! @beh353#beh353
I think it's interesting how patients that are trying to lose weight overestimate their diet quality. Of course it's important to eat healthy, but you still have to eat a decent amount to healthily lose weight. @beh353#beh353

-no surprise. @myDietID is here to replace bad guesses with robust, but effortless, assessment

@molly_mcnichols@beh353 Hi Molly! I think this is a great way for to get children interested in nutrition. Games and videos are more interactive for them rather than reading or listening! @beh353#beh353
As a future pediatric PA, I would recommend this website for children and their parents. I chose this article because it is a credible source (Harvard) and is easy to follow along and read. The article is evidence-based. @beh353#beh353 https://t.co/CmU7Ekk1NF
I actually didn't know that mushrooms are nutritious! I've never really had them because don't look too appetizing to me, but it's so cool to know that they have some benefits! I might have to try some one day! @beh353#beh353
@Alicia43029@beh353 Hi Alicia! I also would consider the reason why someone is overweight and not fat shame them. There could be something wrong in their body! @beh353#beh353
From the video, I learned that medical professionals "don't see past the fat" therefore they aren't getting proper diagnostic tests. As a future PA, I will be sure to not fat shame people and see if there is something else that could be causing weight gain. @beh353#beh353
Plant-based diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are better than those consisting of sugary beverages, potatoes, and desserts. I think many people did not know that there are different types of plant-based diets and not all are healthy. @beh353#beh353
Healthy plant-based diets better for the environment than less healthy plant-based diets https://t.co/CMLJqyuJif
-what's better for people is better for the planet, and vice versa. Fortuitous! @myDietID

@andreabeale3@beh353 Hi Andrea! I also didn't know what stress can lead to obesity until a few months ago. There are several factors that we didn't even think of! @beh353#beh353
One fact that stuck with me was that "child obesity is directly linked to poverty." It didn't really hit me until now. Healthier food are much more expensive than junk food. Although I can't change the prices, I can donate healthier foods to those in need. @beh353#beh353
