July 1995 - Heartbreaking video of Bosnian Muslim Ramo Osmanovic forced by Serb soldiers to call out for his son Nermin to surrender. Both father and son were later executed, their remains were found in a mass grave in 2008.

لم تتمكن ابنتي أروى، بعد إكمالها المرحلة الثانوية وحصولها على شهادة A-Level بتفوق، من تحقيق حلمها بالحصول على مقعد في كليات طب الأسنان البريطانية، بسبب نظام المفاضلة الذي يمنح الأولوية للمواطنين البريطانيين، ثم للمقيمين، ثم لطلبة الاتحاد الأوروبي آنذاك.
لأجل ذلك اضطرت إلى دراسة العلوم الطبية الحيوية (Biomedical Sciences) في جامعة كوين ماري/ لندن.
وخلال دراستها، تواصلت مع إدارة الجامعة وعدتها بمنحها فرصة للالتحاق بكلية طب الأسنان بعد إكمال البكالوريوس، بشرط أن تحافظ على معدل مرتفع لا يقل عن ٨٠%. وقد التزمت بذلك بالفعل، فتخرجت بتفوق مع مرتبة الشرف، ونالت تكريم الجامعة لتميّزها الأكاديمي.
غير أن الوعد لم يُنفّذ، ولم تحصل على المقعد الموعود في طب الأسنان.
