When I started job hunting after NYSC, the first thing I was told by elders was that I should never look for a job in companies without a good reputation, and if I discovered that the company didn't remit pensions regularly or pay salaries on time, I should resign quickly.
End.
@jon_d_doe I recall during my junior secondary education, my headteacher made mentioned of this, while she was teaching us about "female genital mutilation " as a topic. I think that should be in PHE as at then, the subject covers almost every area just like social studies.
I just watched a video of a story about a married man.
He traveled to Abuja for a conference, and later met with a side chick in a hotel.
He fucked her so good that the side chick pleaded for more, and even asked him not to pay her.
But the man had to board a plane back to Lagos.
On their way in a taxi, the side sick was with him and still crying and pleading that he should not go.
Then the taxi driver had to politely interject.
"Oga, I no know wetin dey between you and this lady, but whatever she's asking for, please do it for her if you can".
So the man asked the driver to return to the hotel, and he spent the night with his side chick.
That same day he learned that there had been a plane crash, and it was the same plane he was supposed to board to Lagos before he turned back to the hotel.
His family thought he had unfortunately died in the crash. Then he called his wife.
She thought she was speaking to a "ghost." He had to tell her that he had not boarded the plane after all.
When he got to Lagos the next day, he had to confess to his wife that it was the side chick that saved him.
Wife was crying and appreciative of the side chick, to the extent that she and her husband and kids had to travel to Abuja to thank the side chick with gifts.
Marriage continues.
Man is happy.
Wife is happy.
Side chick is happy.
End.
Bruh, first don't be ashamed of where you are. You are 33, not finished. You have a job, you have a mother who loves you, you have ambition, and most importantly, you are thinking seriously about the kind of husband and father you want to become. Those are not small things.
The fact that you have a soft spot for women is not a character defect. It simply means you are capable of attachment. What you need to learn is discernment, how to love someone without losing your judgment.
And please don't use what happened between that lady and your colleague as evidence that all women cannot be trusted or that you always choose wrongly. You weren't in a relationship with her. She told you she was already in one, and she made her own choice on who she does her infidelity with. She clearly doesn't like or rate you, and she is simply sleeping with who she rates, while claiming to be honourable. That's on both of them.
You asked, "How will I know she's the one?" LOL
You probably won't know because of one magical feeling. Marriage is not an examination where God drops an answer sheet on your table. You learn by observing her character over time.
How does she behave when she's angry?
How does she treat people who cannot benefit her?
How does she handle money?
Can she apologise?
Does she respect boundaries?
Does she tell the truth when lying would be easier?
Does she support your growth without becoming dependent on your success?
Can you disagree without destroying each other?
Do your values, faith, family expectations and vision for children actually align?.....
And don't rush marriage because you're afraid of getting older. The woman you marry will not only become your wife, she will become the mother of your children and one of the most influential people in your home and decision making. Choose carefully.
As for your finances, โฆ200k and living with your mother at 33 doesn't make you a failure. It simply means you are not yet where you want to be, but you are working towards where you want to be. Keep the focus bruh.
Regardless, don't wait until you're rich before allowing yourself to become a husband or father. But don't also use marriage as an escape from the responsibility of building yourself either. Work on your career, increase your earning capacity, save, learn practical skills, build your confidence, become financially disciplined. Eventually get your own place when you can reasonably afford it.
Most importantly, stop thinking that you need to have everything figured out before you become a man. Use now to become the kind of man a good woman should want to build a life with.
My final piece. Take your time, bruh. Build yourself, don't become cynical because one situation didn't work out. And don't become desperate because you haven't found your person yet. You are not late, you're just learning. Selah!
@jon_d_doe Mrs Agba jon doe. Thank you for all the love, support, care and resilience you've given to Agba your husband and father of your wonderful kids.
