Inside Oryx's UGX 10b Tax Battle with URA
URA's audit began with tax assessments of UGX10.45 billion against @oryxenergiesUG. Years of objections, mediation, and litigation later, the @TaxAppealug ruled in Oryx's favour on the three remaining issues, effectively bringing the dispute to a close while setting an important precedent for cross-border tax transactions.

A whistleblower. A criminal prosecution. A landmark court victory.
The High Court has ordered MTN Uganda to pay former executive Richard Mwami over UGX 2.3 billion after finding the telecom company maliciously instigated his prosecution over the infamous UGX 16 billion mobile money fraud case.
How did the man who first reported the suspicious transactions end up in the dock, and ultimately win one of Uganda's most significant malicious prosecution judgments?

The trucks “belong” to the Keshwala family, who are devoted followers of Khodiyar Maa, the Hindu goddess.
In reality, Jay Khodiyar Maa serves as a front, a subsidiary of the secret business empire run by “Gulu Uncle,” with the Keshwalas acting as his proxies.
A telling incident in the 2010s in Ibanda District showed just how powerful that network was. Deo Isungisa, then the Officer in Charge (OC) of Traffic at Ibanda Central Police Station, pulled over one of the Jay Khodiyar Maa trucks on the pretext of an old tyre. When the driver told him he was only a driver and that he should speak to the boss on phone, the arrogant Isungisa refused.
The driver then received a call from the boss, who calmly instructed him and the conductor to board any available vehicle, go on a five-day leave, leave the truck running, and head back to Mbarara. The driver and conductor obeyed immediately and left the truck there.
About ten minutes later, the “big man” himself called Isungisa. The moment the boss introduced himself, Isungisa’s confidence collapsed. He began apologising profusely. The big man then gave him a clear condition: “In your capacity, you will find a way to supply the merchandise to all the people I supply in Ibanda, Kamwenge, and Kazo, and you will return the truck to Jinja. The invoice book and receipt book is there, use common sense.”
Isungisa replied without hesitation, “Yes boss,” and complied fully, even enlisting his junior officers to help him “kowtow.” He later offered even more apologies once the task was completed. Not long afterwards, he was transferred out of Ibanda CPS.
Isungisa had been well known as the most arrogant traffic officer in the area. He never took bribes at any point during his tenure and feared no one. He once stopped a vehicle that belonged to former PGB (now SFC) abracadabra drunkard September George who was Kainerugaba’s watchdog in the days of PGB, and on that day, he was in company of Emmanuel Kafunuza(if you come from Ibanda, you know this Nyabuhikye zeyi ), and nearly got shot dead along the Kazo road. He truly believed he was untouchable until he crossed the Jay Khodiyar Maa truck. 😭😢
I have some advice for young men newly employed,
When you get employed:
• Be grateful to God, your parents, your mentors and your boss for this opportunity
• Work hard
• Respect your employer
• Adhere to your employer's rules and protocols
• Embrace the mission and vision of the employer
However, if working for your employer becomes unbearable due to other reasons,
• Quit respectfully
• Follow the procedures of quitting as written in your contract or employment letter
• Return your employer's resources in your custody
• Handover politely and thank your employer for giving you an opportunity
• Leave with a clean conscience
Don't be chaotic, abusive and contemptuous on your way out.
Don't think you are smarter than your employer.
The employer you are disrespecting gave you a livelihood when you were seeking a footing and direction.
The employer may not have paid you to your satisfaction, but be polite.
Don't go bad mouthing your employer, speaking nastily, and broadcasting your foul mouth while disclosing what is considered private policies, programs, products or services of your former workplace.
Leave courteously.
This way, you open room for better opportunities, newer networks and better leverage.
Don't be a rude employee. Other employers will fear giving you opportunities in the future because they don't trust you.
Be courteous when you close the door behind you, the universe will be kind to you on your way out.
Topping your radiator with tap water is a slow execution for your engine. Water carries minerals that scale up your waterways and rust your block from the inside. Coolant is not a luxury. It is the thing standing between your head gasket and a 5M repair.
Water boils too early and protects nowhere near as well. It corrodes the very passages it is meant to cool. That 30K bottle of coolant exists, so you never meet your mechanic for a warped engine cylinder head.
Some people are very funny, they save this 30K then spend millions later explaining why...
Buying a 2005, 2009 or 2012 car in 2026 and expecting it to be completely untouched is crazy.
What exactly do you think the previous owners were doing for 17 years?
Parking it in a museum?
With 50M?
The car is out. The land is quite tempting. But I’m putting my money into a business.
Because I’ve never seen a plot wake up at 6am, find customers and generate consistent cash flow.
Land is just where money rests.
Business is where money multiplies.
The order always matters…
