Although she was never really recognized for her contributions at the time, her story is being highlighted now through books like “Bibha Chowdhuri: A Jewel Unearthed: The Story of an Indian Woman Scientist”. The (IAU) has also named a star in the Sextans constellation “Bibha”

Bibha Chowdhuri (1913–1991) was an Indian physicist who studied particle physics and cosmic rays. In 1936, she completed her MSc at the University of Calcutta. She then joined the Bose Institute and together with Bose, discovered what became known as mu-mesons.

Chowdhuri returned to India to join the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and later the Physical Research Laboratory and was involved in the KGF experiments. She later moved back to Kolkata and worked at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata until her death in 1991
