@EmptySeatsPics The renovation was a bandaid. Chicago had 23 years to figure something out. Yet they didn't even pay off the renovation let alone plan for the future. No, staying at Soldier Field is not an option.
@dmeyer312@BillTZimmerman That's what I don't get. It can't happen, but then it's exactly what IN offered for a lot less of the Bears risk.
Bears held out for their AH property, Chicago still managed to screw it up for the state.
@NickLaVere20 Obviously they don't. You have people replying who think Bears were asking for a stadium like IN offered them.
I don't like IN's socialist math but Chicago was just trying to force the Bears to stay in Chicago.
The Bears AH offer should've been easy. Now we get nothing.
@TheHultmanBeat In before some butthurt Chicagoans claim Bears can't place an open end towards the Chicago skyline.
Bears aren't allowed to look at Chicago.
@themanvic@ProFootballTalk That's not what IN said.
Bears put up half as much as they planned for Arlington. After leasing for 40 years, getting the profits and no property tax Bears can buy the stadium for $1.
@gkamstra I think it's good for IN. It's a chance to revitalize NW IN. If it works, money well spent. I would think they know the risks and the math after Lucas Oil.
IL also knows the Chicago math after the renovations that were never paid off in spite of the lease being done.
@Bear_Down_Adam People claiming fandom from birth are the worst bandwagoners of all. Can't be bothered to have a thought, it all about what the map tells them.
@smith_john20233@thom_serafin Because everything that isn't Chicago is retarded.
People may go to Orland Park or any number of nice places around Chicago but nobody is going into Chicago to pay your tax.
@itsmine49 Same thing for Chicago.
Yep, after a Sunday night game I love going to the Field Museum. Even at a noon game nobody is doing anything when it's going to take a couple hours to get 20 miles away from the city.
@FleecedByGetz Chicago thought they could force them to stay in Chicago by blocking the property they own. Ego didn't let them think they would move to IN.
@ChildersRadio Yes everyone is always free to be a fan of any team they want.
If you were only a fan because of the city then you were never a fan to begin with.
@TheCptGreybeard So many alleged football fans showing how ignorant they are over this. The Wolf Lake site is so close to the border you'd need a tape measure to compare to East Rutherford to see who was closer to their home state.
@MomTo3_Boys Other teams would pay according to where they play not where the team HQ is.
If Bears move HQ to IN it's all IN's if the players live there. If players are working at Lake Forest and/or living on the IL side it gets more complicated. Also offseason in IL.
@Thomas_hook I don't. I am probably never going to a game. SNF will telephoto Chicago in the pictures and everyone will point and laugh at IL politicians.
@CEmma670 What's sad is Arlington Heights was about the best offer taxpayers get from sports teams.
"We'll pay for our own stadium, just give us tax certainty and the infrastructure." That fact that was still on the table after IN's offer and IL still managed to screw it up says a lot.
