Did Air Canada cancel your flight AHEAD of the strike?
Preemptive cancellations are WITHIN the carrier's control.
Air Canada must not only rebook you but also must:
* provide meals and accommodation
* pay compensation up to $1,000/passenger.

@CTVVancouver I have brand new, good quality winter tires on my car, and learned to drive in the snow when I was a teen. The problem remains also that the city does not plan ahead and salt/brine the roads or have sufficient plows like other major canadian cities do.
@biancaYUL@SrivAnku My flight was out of Montreal going Vancouver but we had to divert / reroute to YYZ due to a “technical issue”. Do you think it’s related?
My work week flying with #AirCanada consisted of a delayed and cancelled flight YVR to SASK Monday, flying Tuesday AM to Sask. 2 HOUR delay out of SASK and now #AC311 which is YUL-YVR diverting to YYZ after 1.5 hours in route. You can’t make this stuff up.
Today I was denied boarding when showing my boarding pass for my flight home because my initial segment on @AirCanada showed as “no show” even though I was on that flight and have proof. AirCan cancelled my return segment and did not help, Had to book a 1400$ flight @CityNewsVAN
Big shoutout to @WestJet who gave me gold status for 2023 even though I didn’t quite actually make it with flights/spending. Amazing way to treat business travellers who’ve flown throughout the pandemic thank you 😃
Never a dull moment when you travel for work.
Boarded #ac311 at 530pm in #YUL to take off at 620pm. Delayed because of cargo load; then 7pm they announce we need a new pilot, who’s on his way, now it’s 855pm and we are stuck on the plane in an ‘evolving situation’! @CBCMontreal
Sunwing says it has now completed all of its recovery flights, bringing stranded customers in Mexico back home. But there are signs some could have returned sooner. https://t.co/nuuvmTuf2j
As a SK travel agent, I will no longer sell Sunwing Vacations. They knew about this issue in the fall. They should have stopped selling flights at that point. I have to pay Sunwing back my commission. They are still making millions of other flights in Canada. @SunwingVacay
@toddritchie@Mister_Coffey@SunwingVacay Happened to us on the 24th, we were supposed to fly out at 5:35 pm to Cuba, then delayed to 10:30pm then to 25th at 8am, then 25th at 7:30pm, then the 26th at 10am.. So we ended up cancelling to get a full refund. Had been at airport and lost 2 days out of 6 :(
MISINFORMATION ALERT
This article by @CBCNews contains material misstatements about passengers' rights.
It conflates weather-related cancellations with those due to crew shortage and other operational reasons.
