Today, @NAFORRI_UG and partners launched a Climate-smart project that seeks to use Black Soldier Fly Larvae as a low-cost solution for managing avocado oil waste while promoting sustainable waste management and affordable alternative poultry feed through scientific research.
#HappeningNow: A Farmer Field Day at the station, organized in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, is equipping communities with practical skills in agroforestry and sustainable land management to promote climate-smart agriculture and resilient livelihoods.

Proper application of the NARO Anti-Tick Vaccine is key to its effectiveness. Administer it only to healthy animals, as sick animals may have compromised immunity that limits an effective response and reduces the vaccine’s efficiency. #OpenGovUg
Q&A session between H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and the vaccine scientist
H.E: The scientist come back and explain to the Ugandan how the vaccine protects the livestock? Does the cow now kill the tick?
The scientist (Dr. Swidiq Mugerwa): Your excellency, we got the protein from the tick its self. When you put the protein inform of a vaccine and inject it in the blood of the cow, the cow recognises it as a foreign body and produces soldiers/anti-bodies to fight against that protein. When the tick sucks blood that contains the soldiers/antibodies they kill the tick

If a plant has needs just like we do, then meeting those needs becomes our responsibility.
And perhaps the greatest kindness we can show the earth and ourselves is to plant, nurture, and protect the trees that quietly fight for our survival every day.

COCOA: When setting up a new cocoa farm, intercrop the cocoa with food crops: banana, cassava, yam, beans, soya bean, groundnuts, maize to provide
initial shade for newly planted cocoa seedlings. These also serve as a source of food and income. #CoCoDevProject#CocoaIsTheNewGold
EXCELSA — Uganda’s Wild Coffee
Uganda has long relied on two coffee species: Arabica & Robusta.
But from the Zoka Central Forest Reserve comes a third, Excelsa.
Now under research at the NARO Kamenyamigo Sub-station in partnership with Makerere University @MakCAES, @ugwildlife & @kyagalanyicoffe this indigenous coffee could reshape the future of production.
Why it matters 👇
☑️ Highly tolerant to climate change
☑️ Fruits throughout the year (multiple harvests)
☑️ Strong economic potential for farmers
📊 Yield potential
• 1 tree ≈ 5 kg/season
• 2 seasons/year → 10 kg/tree
• 225 trees/acre → ~2,250 kg/year
