Don’t be afraid to strength train.
Forces equal to 4-8x bodyweight go through the legs during running. 1.5xBW or more going down stairs.
No matter what you do, train your system to absorb external load. 5lb dumbbells and yellow theraband just aren’t going to cut it

Thank you all so much for the twitter sessions this semester...I really enjoyed working with you all & learnt lots from it.
The topics raised were absolutely superb. I can easily say that this semester’s #PT582#TwitterThursday sessions were the best one so far, by a long margin.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Excellent #PT582#TwitterThursday session! Who doesn't like to read interesting experiences/evidence? I found this session very fascinating ,insightful, & thought-provoking. #Thanks! I hope @naudpt students will use some of the info we learned today into practice.
@BiesemeyerEllie this website https://t.co/Zt7SgQTqbx about how the anatomy of a horse can mimic human pelvic girdle anatomy&gait pattern so I wonder if there's a way to use hippotherapy to stimulate the central pattern generator in pts. with spinal cord injuries or gait ataxia #PT582#EB
@BiesemeyerEllie Hippotherapy is fantastic! I got to volunteer @ 15 Hands & Hearts last semester, & we saw multiple Pts with autism. Pt autonomy was present & acknowledged. Dr. New-Jenkins told us that HT provides many more neural inputs! So it is + for balance and core stability! #PT582#EB
@BiesemeyerEllie AHA has great resources on the website! https://t.co/xmbYKzLm3h - "appropriate for services to be billed as NM Ed, therex, ther activities or sensory integration, depending the intent of the int, the Pt goals, and assuming all other payer requirements are met."Awesome! #PT582#EB
A RCT found that PNF combined with low-frequency stim improved muscle contractions during PNF when compared to only PNF stretching. I personally think that stim can provide proprioceptive feedback while aiding in muscle recruitment #RO#PT582

#PT582#EB If the patient is comfortable being on a horse it's a good addition to treatment. This article is helpful in understanding what hipo. You cant bill directly for it but can bill for the activities you are doing like neuo reeducation on the horse. https://t.co/S7Ta7M9SPj
Thanks everyone for a great discussion on the importance of promoting health and wellness in our practices! I look forward to working alongside all of you in the future! #PT582#RT@NAUPT582
