What drives me to teach!
When my kids, being from a state university without much laboratory exposure.. and limited field exposure, are selected in places like NISER, IISER, CDRI, IICT, IICB, IITs etc.
Feels content when they do good!

h-index crossed 55 today. Celebrating the milestone, but reminded that numbers are imperfect proxies. What counts most is research that actually improves care for patients with cancers. In a field where impact often takes years to materialize, persistence matters

One of Odisha’s beautiful traditions is that temples don’t just give blessings, they also serve wholesome meals. Even in small towns, you can visit the main temple and buy a full meal. This helps families, especially women.
In my childhood, there were no restaurants in our small town in Rajasthan. Eating out wasn’t an option. Mother cooked every single day, 365 days a year. On festivals or when guests came, she was in kitchen for longer time.
Temple meals give women a rare breathing space. On special occasions, if they don’t want to cook, they can simply get food from the temple, and enjoy the festival like everyone else.
Food as devotion.
Food as community.
Food also as relief.

Poor soul has clearly never had a good one. A truly great idli is a cloud, a whisper, a perfect dream of the perfectibility of human civilisation. It's a sublime creation, a delicate, weightless morsel of rice and lentil, steamed to an ethereal fluffiness that melts on the tongue. With the right accompaniments, it is the culinary equivalent of a Beethoven symphony, a Tagore sangeet, a Husain painting, a Tendulkar century. To call such a thing "regret" is to have no soul, no palate, no appreciation for the finest achievements of South Indian culture. I can only feel pity for @Molutty_writes and @SassyDopamine !
Research and innovation happens in a state of abundance, not in scarcity. As a country, we have actually been "penny wise pound foolish" when it comes to research - both in govt and private corporations. Need to change this asap - else it's a done deal :(
