Such a weird day for me. And again, a reminder that these markets really don’t mean anything when it comes to what truly matters in life.

Am I happy the market went up? Of course! We waited forever. But it was shadowed by an event in my life today.

I’ve had a jacked up day. After markets in the morning, my son’s school called. He fell, and busted up his mouth.

We took him to urgent care as he had a large open split in his gums, and they did liquid bandage to seal it. They said he was going to lose a tooth as well. Ugh.

We took him to the dentist, they confirmed that they thought he would lose at least BOTH his front teeth. They also weren’t happy with the liquid bandage and wanted us to see a hospital to get stitches.

We took him to an oral surgeon, who confirmed he will lose his front teeth. But, doesn’t think it’s necessary to stitch since the bleeding had slowed … at this point we are 4-hours into this situation. Not fun having your kid in pain, bleeding and knowing he will lose some teeth and still not feeling like the situation is resolved. But he assured us it will be okay. Then, after several bills from these various visits, the surgeon saw the distraught day we had, what our son had been through, and when I asked for the bill he responded “this one’s on the house, you’ve had a big day.”

We’ve been back for a few hours now. Kids face is all busted. Still a slow bleed. And he’s going to lose his front teeth… but overall, he will be okay.

As parents, we felt helpless going from urgent care to dentist to oral surgeon… and our son in pain and bleeding.

This moment was the most important moment. No green candle will be more important than that.

Just a reflection really of what is truly important. It’s those people in your life. None of his matters without them. And you’re likely doing all of this for them. Enjoy them. Embrace them.
