We are the recipients of the “Community Services Recovery Fund” from the Department of Employment and Social Development, and in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, The United Way, and the Community Foundations of Canada @ESDC_GC@redcrosscanada @CommFdnsCanada @UWCCanada
It’s no wonder that people who are struggling with homelessness and addiction aren’t accepting what you’re offering when you start filming them or taking pictures of them while they’re in distress. I wouldn’t want your help either. But maybe that’s the point, so you can say they don’t want help so lock them up.
Too many people see homelessness and blame the individual instead of taking the time to understand why that person might be homeless. The solutions are upstream if people only cared to look.
Take a look. These drag queens are not a fantasy. They are real people with loved ones, dreams and powerful histories. Attacking them means you’re attacking your own neighbors, family and community. https://t.co/YdXAmPTTAy

Someone said "decriminalizing drugs will create more homelessness & addiction" There's always a risk of addiction when using any substance, regardless of its legality. Instead of focusing on if addiction causes homelessness, let's focus on creating affordable 🏠 to prevent it!
People need to stop pointing fingers at people who are on the streets homeless and start pointing fingers at the policies that keep people homeless. There is no place for people to go!!! #EndHomelessness
We judge people who use (certain) drugs
We judge people who are living with an addiction
We judge people who are experiencing homelessness
We judge people who want a safer supply
We judge people who seek treatment.
We judge & wonder why people continue to struggle alone. Stop🛑!
Here we go: Campbell River enacts a bylaw clearly undermining BC's decrim policy. City is legally required to get provincial approval for bylaws like this. @JM_Whiteside will you intervene? #BCdecrim

🚨 New @crackdownpod ep. The fight for drug decriminalization is only getting started in BC. But when the state makes a concession to movement demands, that shows a little community power. Fuckin A https://t.co/5hJsTre3ib
