5-Day Banking is not a new demand. It is a commitment awaiting implementation.
The 8 March 2024 Joint Note recognised all Saturdays as holidays, with revised working hours to follow after Government notification. Bankers accepted the adjustment in working hours to make a 5-day week possible.
Since then, bankers have continued to deliver—serving customers, supporting financial inclusion and carrying growing responsibilities.
The agreement is on record. The workforce has done its part. Now, the implementation must follow.
Respect the commitment. Respect the workforce.

If 5-day banking is the norm across most BRICS members, a simple question remains:
Why should Indian bank employees continue working on Saturdays?
India leads in digital banking and 24×7 services-can’t banking workweeks evolve too?

Stronger banks need healthier bankers. Five-day banking means better work-life balance, stronger families and a stronger banking sector.

8.86 lakh employees in 2012-13.
7.58 lakh by March 2025.
Business past Rs 283 lakh crore.
Record profits, over a lakh fewer hands and still six day per week.
5 day banking is not a concession. It is arithmetic that caught up long ago

Government shall Honour the joint note signed on 8th March 24.
Like other departments, Bankers also deserves "Work Life Balance".
Approval of the 5-day week will create a more satisfied and engaged workforce willing to contribute even more to the banks.
