@mlchealth At last! A much needed review.
When they produce their report we must urgently set up a commission to study that report, and to seriously think about whether we might consider implementing some of their recommendations at some unspecified point in the future.
Maybe.
@MrTCHarris The theory is that local politicians are best placed to make decisions on what’s needed for the region.
Northern Ireland’s experience shows that in practice parochialism wins.
This story comes around every year like a perennial weed.
Schools can already enforce a ban on phones if they want. My son’s school already does. Why do they need government to legislate for it?
Just get on and do it.

@BelfastBooks The Rangers* manager should be sacked. And so should his replacement.
*Also applies to pretty much every major club and international team that isn’t winning every week.
@thesundaysport Car designers have a lot to answer for too.
A few years ago I tried (and failed) to replace a headlamp bulb on a Mondeo.
Turns out the only way to get access is to remove the battery and the entire headlamp unit.. There’s not enough YouTube for that.
@SkyNews@Iromg Hang on, ‘countries like El Salvador’.
Has he asked El Salvador if they’ll take them?
Which other countries does he have in mind if they won’t?
Imagine how long this’ll be dragged through the courts before this happens. Or actually doesn’t happen.
@Stormont_watch Surely in 2026 we can find some way of making it clear that the vast bulk of this money is for ‘staff costs’ rather than on duck moats and swan pate.
Today I visited Cape Coast Castle. Seeing the horrific conditions that thousands of people were kept in, it is impossible not to feel the weight of the immense evil that drove the transatlantic slave trade.
I pray not only in lament for the Church’s involvement in the slave trade, but also for hope - hope that the God of healing can bring justice and reconciliation to all who are still impacted by its legacy.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who came to set people free, I pray that we have the courage to continue our journey of repentance, and to strive for a world in which all of God's children are treated with dignity.
How low does a turnout have to be before an election result loses legitimacy?
Whoever wins this will be the first choice of less than 12% of the electorate, what mandate do they really have?
@AllisonPearson@bbcr4news Have you heard James O’Brien’s take on it?
Something something climate change something.
Mad as a box of hares.

'That's what happens when you see footage like this - populists get really excited.'
James O'Brien responds to the videos of a reported 49,000 migrants entering the Spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco.
@joe_rich@grok They get the car because they qualify for the “enhanced mobility PIP” and they’ve exchanged some of that payment for a car allowance.
The real question is do those people qualify for the enhanced part. If they do then what they spend it on is irrelevant.
