Demonstrating exceptional originality across multiple research fields, we are excited to present Juan Carlos De La Concepcion with an Early Career Research Award in 2026! @delaconcepcionj has made fundamental discoveries in plant immunity & the biology of immune receptor function
New paper alert! The labs of Liam Dolan (@DolanLab) and Frédéric Berger combined global climate data with a new population genomics database to identify genetic variants related to climate adaptation in Marchantia polymorpha. Read more: https://t.co/B22kmIkSW9
Glad to see it online. What a journey with all the tears and joy🥹We will continue on the road of defence & developement Signalling specificity in #galls 💪🌿🦟
Excited to share our latest manuscript on virus maturation!
We've successfully solved the structures of five intermediates in the NωV maturation process and unraveled the intricate structural reorganization required for infection.

🆕 & 🆒#Preprint led by @delaconcepcionj adressing a key #evocellbio question: How can individual subunits of multimeric protein complexes functionally diversify without compromising the ancestral complex? (Using plant #Exo70 & #exocyst as template) )https://t.co/j9d2NJkWRl 🧵

In our new “Behind The Science”, Postdoc Zsuzsanna Mérai reflects on her career at the GMI and shares how she helped establish Aethionema arabicum as a novel plant model organism. Zsuzsanna’s research was recently published in Current Biology. https://t.co/rXlY0b5aYY
New paper alert! Sarah Attrill and @DolanLab report on @Dev_journal that microtubules and actin filaments direct the movement of the nucleus during symmetry breaking, a key process for asymmetric cell division in the Marchantia polymoprha spore. https://t.co/p3sWwKbueG
Happy to share our new preprint on de novo meristem formation from a single-celled Marchantia spore with @DolanLab. We discovered that a set sequence of cell division patterns develop the first flat and dorsoventralised plant body (flabellum) on which the meristem forms de novo.
Exciting new results from the @DesveauxLab and @dguttman Labs at @UofTCellSysBiol!

Thrilled to share that our latest designed protein cage structure is featured on the cover of Acta Crystallographica Section F!

New publication! We succeeded in crystalizing a designed imaging scaffold (based on a protein cage), opening the possibility to use them to determine the structure of cargoes and small proteins in X-ray crystallography in addition to cryo-EM!

The Lange Nacht der Forschung on May 24th was a total success! Over 3k people visited the Austrian Academy of Sciences @oeaw, where GMI scientists discussed genetic selection of crops through human history, as well as the use of CRISPR-based gene editing to improve crops.
