A NJ nonprofit founded to protect the civil liberties and #2ndAmendment rights of NJ residents through public advocacy, research, and impact litigation.
Today, NJFOS, along with SAF, has amended our complaint against the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. Mr. Aliaj was stripped of his rights simply for cohabiting with someone who was wrongfully rendered a prohibited person, which itself was an abuse of authority. After filing our case, a clear pattern of abuse emerged, and after several additional plaintiffs came forward, we took the necessary step to amend our lawsuit to include these additional plaintiffs.
"The fact pattern surrounding the clear abuse of authority by the Bergen County Prosecutor in completely restricting Mr. Aliaj's rights warranted the filing of our initial complaint. In response, numerous additional plaintiffs came forward," said Joe LoPorto, director of legal operations at NJFOS. "These additional plaintiffs make clear that the bully tactics employed by the BCPO are not a one-off, but evidence of a pattern and practice that proves our need for the broad injunctive relief demanded in our complaint. These policies and practices are completely unmoored in either state law or any legal framework consistent with the Second Amendment."

The permit-to-carry rebate train keeps getting longer with a new municipality rebating the full $150.

Great argument on why registries and compelling the production of public records on individual firearm owners defeats the very purpose of the Second Amendment as a check on tyranny.
Your regular reminder that:
1) The Trace and Everytown have the same President, and he signs both organization's tax filings
2) Everytown's CFO is The Trace's Treasurer and Secretary
3) 19% of The Trace's revenue in 2024 came from an Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund grant
4) At $1,206,382, it was the largest grant the Everytown Support Fund issued that year

New Jersey’s Attorney General is now subpoenaing FFLs statewide, demanding records on every lawful sale of @GLOCKInc pistols to New Jersey residents over the last decade.
This is an effort to harass and doxx law-abiding gun owners who purchased America’s most popular pistol.
Because New Jersey’s pistol permitting system operates as a de facto registry, the Attorney General can simply produce those records from its own database. This subpoena would make these transactions a matter of public record. https://t.co/KXvPIgoQ8H

@NewJerseyOAG has sent subpoenas to FFLs throughout the state related to its court case against Glock -- legal experts at gun rights groups tell us this would dox New Jersey gun owners and create a functional registry.

1) It's not illegal to carry a firearm at a doctor's office.
2) Courthouses provide armed security with mandatory screening to ensure disarmed citizens are safe.
I see you all continue to have a tenuous grasp on 2A policy.
Keep blindly cashing your Bloomberg bucks, though.
The US House just passed the NICS Data Reporting Act on a bipartisan voice vote.
This bill would require reporting on NICS denials on the basis of race, ethnicity and gender.
NJ Assembly Bill A.222, sponsored by @DawnFantasia_NJ and @Robert_Auth would force NJ to report on NJ firearms license denials on the same basis.
Capitol Hill is more divided than ever but at least there is bipartisan consensus to not ignore discrimination regarding a core constitutional right.

Thank you, Asm. @mikeinganamort.
Bill A222: https://t.co/gN9upDbaVV
Inconsistency at best, bias at worst. The color of your skin is NOT a valid reason for denial of a permit to carry.
Subjective standards are driving denials in NJ and the data shows those decisions are hitting minority applicants the hardest.
This is not new. The complete data must be shared in a timely manner, and the @NewJerseyOAG bears the responsibility to ensure this.

We’ve been hearing it again and again from constituents: update the Permit to Carry Dashboard.
So today I asked the Attorney General to do just that.
The data we do have raises serious concerns about potential racial disparities in permit denials. That’s why we should have a full airing of all available data.
Thanks to my colleagues Asw. Dawn Fantasia and Asm. Robert Auth for leading on A222 to require regular public reporting.
Remember when @JoeDanielsen17 self-righteously declared, "The question before us now is how many will die? We cannot wait until after the loss of lives to take action to protect residents of New Jersey. As a legislator, I cannot stand for that."
Then he voted to restrict your rights.
Today, over 100,000 Permits to Carry have been issued. According to the state, shootings in New Jersey hit a record low in 2025.
The overwhelmingly positive effect of the proliferation of firearms in public amongst the law-abiding cannot be ignored.

ATTENTION NEW JERSEY PATRIOTS
It's time to activate, and we need your help!
A private citizen has formally asked the Linwood mayor and town council to put forth the measure to rebate the municipal portion of the PTC fee of $150.
As of this morning, the mayor and council have not responded to that citizen's request, nor to numerous inquiries from our publication. (The agenda for the March 25 meeting is not yet published.) The silence seems to be the answer.
Please call and email the Linwood office and encourage them to support this measure:

Great opportunity to support a part of the state that has been critical in passing our resolutions to eliminate permitting fees.
This year Sussex County will be making their Lincoln Day fundraiser a 2A event with guest speakers including 2A Champion and Assemblywoman @DawnFantasia_NJ and @NRA President Bill Bachenberg!
