This important step will directly benefit hunters by improving access to hunting areas, supporting game retrieval, and expanding opportunities to carry on time-honored traditions.

At the same time, these changes will improve access for outdoor enthusiasts across the board - from sportsmen and women to families and others who enjoy spending time on public lands - while supporting responsible wildlife management and conservation.

USDA confirms NEW World Screwworm in Texas. Stay Alert! 🚨

SCI is engaged with the @USDA following confirmation from the @USDA_APHIS of New World screwworm in a calf in Zavala County, Texas. The New World Screwworm poses a serious threat to livestock, wildlife, pets, and even people. SCI is working with the USDA, the @Interior, and partner agencies to support response efforts and protect wildlife and agricultural resources.

We commend federal agencies for their swift action, including targeted releases of sterile flies to contain the threat. At the same time, SCI urges the federal government to commit every available resource to combating this outbreak and expanding sterile fly production as quickly as possible.

SCI members and hunters - YOU are on the front lines of screwworm surveillance. Your vigilance in the field is critical.

Know the signs of a screwworm infection:
🪱 Extensive open wounds, potentially with bloody discharge or foul odor
🪱 Larvae (maggots) in wounds or body openings
🪱 Animals in visible pain or unusually lethargic

If you see evidence of a screwworm infection:
📍 Record the GPS location
📸 Take photos if possible

After years of work, travel, setbacks, and filming in some of the most remote mountains on Earth, MARCO POLO: Bowhunting the Impossible by Pedro Ampuero is ready for its premiere. More than 3 years in the making, this film features what will become the new World Record Tian Shan Argali (Marco Polo sheep). 🚨

The film follows his attempt to hunt the Marco Polo sheep, one of the most challenging animals on the planet, in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. A successful spot-and-stalk bowhunt on a Marco Polo sheep has only been achieved a handful of times in history.

This is a project filled with adversity, including extreme weather, difficult stalks, guides quitting during the expedition, and a life-threatening medical emergency involving one of the cameramen. It's an incredible story about pushing archery hunting to its limits in pursuit of one of the most desired and legendary mountain animals in the world.

The project will premiere in a cinema in Madrid on June 4 and all the money is going towards the conservation of Spanish Ibex. After that, the film will be available worldwide on YouTube on June 7! 👏

Safari Club International is urging Texas hunters, trappers, and landowners to SPEAK UP as Texas Parks and Wildlife considers a proposal requiring mandatory reporting of mountain lion harvests statewide without providing critical information like a statewide population estimate or clear management objectives.

SCI believes wildlife management works best when it is rooted in sound science, transparency, and collaboration with the hunting and landowner communities that drive conservation forward every day.

With most mountain lion harvests occurring incidentally during other hunting and trapping activities, SCI remains concerned this proposal creates an incomplete picture while placing additional burdens on the very people who steward wildlife habitat across Texas.

SCI will continue advocating for practical, science-based wildlife management and protecting the voice of hunters in the conservation process.
