With only 3 days left, today’s NM Senate Judiciary Committee Agenda has ZERO housing/homelessness bills scheduled. That committee is our last hurdle before Senate Floor for Final Passage.
We can’t put the cart before the horse or criminalize people for being unhoused. We’ll continue rebuilding our systems & stay true to our NM values of compassion for ALL our neighbors. Public safety work must go on, even when the tv cameras stop - we're back at it in CCJ on 8/12.
Folks, please show up tonight if you can--and let's talk about data proven ways to tackle #homelessness, not blame them for NM's #crime problems. #HousingNotHandcuffs
No American should by tricked by their landlord, pay housing junk fees, or face predatory tactics. Appreciated hearing from Colorado residents about the challenges people face when renting.
Many thanks to @CoEvictionDef for hosting & @pweiser for the terrific partnership.
I am incredibly proud of my colleagues who stood together yesterday to expand access to behavioral healthcare and deliver wildfire relief, while having the courage to refuse to pass flawed bills, even in the face of political threats. https://t.co/awMifx9QKe
The @ABQJournal does a good job of explaining why myself, Maria Sanchez of the @ACLUNM, Monet Silva of the #NM Coalition to End #Homelessness, & so many others are so concerned about the proposed #panhandling#SpecialSession legislation.
