@IterIntellectus@ArtemisConsort What kind of test? And who would decide on it? It would also disadvantage conservatives if we’re going by how well state educational systems do.
@JoanHalcomb@FracSlap @shloimytheshump Sure. But that doesn’t change one thing I said. We’re also not talking about guarding. Sleeping dogs can easily be startled.
@FracSlap @shloimytheshump The above poster is correct about one thing. You should never go into any dogs space when they’re sleeping. That’s just a good rule of thumb and common sense. Dogs don’t communicate like humans do and we often naively believe that our methods of affection always translate to them
@wanyeburkett This reminds me of the survey they did that showed half of all men believed they could safely land a place in an emergency without training. That’s just… LOL.
@wanyeburkett This makes sense in certain fields. You lost me at “doctors”. Everyone should advocate for themselves when it comes to health issues. But sometimes there are complexities that lay people wouldn’t understand. Rigorous schooling and experience are important in those situations.
@onyourleftist … there are tons of other domestic issues that also get significantly worse for the most vulnerable people in our country if the one party doesn’t prevail. Given all that, the choice is actually pretty clear.
@onyourleftist … that’s a 2 party system. You have two choices. It doesn’t mean stop trying to push policy a certain way. But it does mean there are realities to our political system that need to be taken into account. On top of that…
@firagawalkwthme FDR effectively had a supermajority in the senate and 300 votes in the house for half of his term. No disrespect here but a lot of these takes are tough to synthesize because they ignore the reality of how stuff politically works in America.
@NateSilver538 Nate, here’s the thing you never talk about. And you’re smart enough to know this. Throughout history, it’s been very rare for people to just give up power. This is probably the most important job in the world. Like 1A. He gets credit for doing what’s best for country and party.
@Tragik187@justmazer@jeffreyjhardy @oledoteth I would argue that Chicago is also similar to a European city. It’s more like NYC than LA, which is a bit like a collection of densely populated sprawling but connected suburbs.
@oledoteth Cool thread. What stood out to me as an American is how different Vegas and NYC are. Did you feel like there was overlap with some of the subjects you tackled or were certain things more prominent in one of the two cities?
@EndWokeness That’s Brian Wallach. He worked for the US Attorney’s office out of Illinois before being diagnosed with ALS and devoting his life to advocacy. He has a JD from Yale and started one of the most successful patient advocacy groups ever to help others. So maybe shut the fuck up.
@dieworkwear Just to add more context to this. Brian worked for the US Attorney’s office out of Chicago before being diagnosed and becoming an advocate. He went to Georgetown and has a JD from Yale. Not that this should matter, but ALS doesn’t typically take away from your mental faculties.
